Before I get started, it is nice to see so many people sharing the same reactions (minus a few posters). I am still upset. I think it is great that Iowa basketball is important to fans again.

I can sit and complain about substitutions, turnovers, poor shooting, and officials, but that isn't going to make me feel any better. Plus, it won't say anything different than what has previously been posted.

My one complaint and I hope it gets addressed before next year is that the coaching staff needs to teach players to take a charge. When MSU spread the floor and attacked off the dribble, the seas parted, but nobody rotated over to take a charge. I hope next year that this gets addressed.

If the marketing campaign was "Let's Get Mad." It may be effective, because I believe a lot of fans are still mad about last night and that is important in rebuilding this basketball program.

Good post. I, too, have been frustrated by the missed opportunities to draw charges. It seems that other than McCabe, our bigs all prefer to jump and go for the block.

I can't agree. The real deficiency on this team is three point shooting. Plain and simple. At the end of a game, when the other team is making a run, nothing takes the wind out of their sails like the three point dagger.

Agreed, the offense as a whole would look so much better with a couple guys on the court who can consistently knock down threes. It will open things up a lot more for Marble and White too.

Sure, having "makers" instead of shooters would be great, but things that can be controlled on the defensive end weren't last night. When a more athletic MSU player is attempting to dribble, drive, and dunk, if the help side defender would rotate to be in a position one time to take a charge, it may make the opponent think about going all the way to the rack.

I don't disagree a "maker" from distance would have been huge for this team, but so would a ballhandler that could create on a regular basis. One thing that the coaching staff can control is teaching the help side defender to slide over and stop the ball or take a charge.

"The refs still have to make the call." Yep, they sure do, but at least you force them to make a decision instead of not sliding over to stop the ball.

Things we can agree on:

1. The refs were bad.
2. The substitution pattern was bad. (Clemmons, Oglesby, McCabe, May on the floor to start the MSU run)
3. The turnovers were bad.
4. The shooting percentage was bad.

With all that said, Iowa still had a chance to win the game. Unbelievable. The program is turning the corner.
