I know they are trying hard and not trying to call them out. I dont know what defensive play calls are in effect so maybe the corners are having to peek in the backfield too much to help stop the run.

But if this continues (and UNI picked on them some also) it could lead to some problems.

Corners are great in run support. Man to man is a major issue, but kind of always has been. Even our very best CB's have only been above average in man. The zone needs work. The windows are still to big. Some of that is LB's and safeties, but the CB's definitely have some stuff to work on.

Outlaw is definitely missed. We were in the south stands. If (my slightly buzzed) memory serves, that 3rd & 4 on their game winning drive, where Hornibrook nailed the underneath crossing route in stride, I turned to my bro and asked where the f were all the LBs??!! I didn’t see a single defender underneath and frickin’ Gervase came up to make the damn tackle!

I am not worried Iowa will not see an o-line that good the rest of the year. The d-line will get back to wreaking havoc and the pass coverage will not need to be great.

Ya he bites hard on the underneath fakes. More teams will test both OJ and Hankins with double moves. The only way to protect our CB's is to get back to living in the backfield. If we can't do that our young secondary will take more lumps before they are seasoned.

Brent was in there late in the game. He might be getting a shot.

They still can’t get the LBs figured out. Amani Jones was MLB early on in a touchdown and looked like he struggled getting them in the right defense after an offensive shift on the Wiscy TD. He went to blitz, got nowhere and left the middle wide open for the TE.

Wiscy’s O-Line won the battle at the LOS. We gave up 200 plus rushing yards. They played ahead of the sticks by winning 1st downs. We had 1 sack and not a lot of pressure.

Yep, basketball defense 101, eye on the guy you are guarding and know where the ball is. Well on third and goal from the 11 you got to think pass as a Cback and you know where the ball will be, around the pocket with Hornibrook.

It was good he chucked the guy to start with but he should not have taken his eyes off of him.

I am bumping this right now. Two true freshman in for injured or semi-injured/somewhat ineffective starters and they are not looking for the ball.

Maybe on third down they need to chuck and bump the receivers.

Hawk offense might need to score 50 or the Dee Rush needs to get about 20 sacks and hurries

Although they got beat a few times, what impressed me is that on at least a few occasions they located the ball in the air. Something that can't remember Ojemundo ever doing.
