Are we all in agreement?

The only problem I had with much of what KOK but mostly KF's decisions about going very conservative and not going for the jugular.

People point to the fake punt Wisky ran against us in 2010 as a turning point but I say it happened a little earlier in that game.

Just prior to the fake punt Greenwood made a great interception that put the ball on about the Wisky 30 something yard line. My son and I in the stand knew we had to go for the jugular and get even a field goal but a TD would be greater. I think the hawks ran one decent play that didnt quite work and the rest of the plays were line plunges into JJ Watt and the short side of the field. I cant remember now if we missed on 4th and short or missed a FG but we had the lead late in the game and we could have been a little more wide open even exotic at that time to sew up the game.

I guess I also noticed KF's conservative nature started showing in 2005 sort of holding Tate back.

Actually, we had been running the ball well, but threw at least 2 passes (might have even been 3). The FG was successful, giving the Hawks a 6 point lead. Earlier in the game we missed a chip shot FG and an extra point. Make those, and Wisconsin's fake punt would have been irrelevent.

Not sure if this is a direct answer to your question or not... I agree that KOK's system was far more ideal for Iowa than some of the crap games we've seen Davis call.

I don't want to get too wordy so to sum up how I feel about the style of offense Iowa should run I'll just say Paul Chryst. What he did at Wisconsin and what he's trying to do at Pitt is a perfect example of an offense that I think would suit Iowa extremely well. It's basically a sexier version of what KOK did. Center the offense around the power run, but don't be afraid to get creative with the PA calls.

I sat 1 row behind and a few seats down from a guy that reeeeeally looked like KOK. He was also wearing an earpiece. So I put 2 and 2 together and...

Just because Kirk found a guy who sucks worse doesn't mean we were wrong about the first guy sucking. That said I agree with what someone said earlier. My biggest problem was with how conservative we were.

No Dean. You're wrong. I've elaborated my reasons on other threads, but mainly, this Davis offense is so much more prolific and potent than KOK's.. er KF's desired offense.

Ok yes thanks for the correction. I knew we threw one pass at least, maybe a PA left and Stanzi rolled right and could have ran a bunch. As it was we needed a TD there. We had 3rd and short 2-3 yards and we just ran the bread and butter, no deception or counter action play, straight into the short side of the field.

It appears this flew over more heads than a Jake Christensen pass so let me just go on record as saying "LIKE."

I see what you did here... but with all do respect if my memory serves me correctly Jake Christensen's passes rarely flew over anyone's head. They usually hit the dirt about 3 yards in front of their intended target.

Beat me to it. Maybe he meant flew over heads off the bounce?

No. KOK was a travesty and I'm glad he's gone. Not my fault they replaced him with an even bigger travesty.

Ferentz was holding him back. When O'Keefe opened it up, like against Pitt in 2011, good things happened. There have been stretches where Davis has used O'Keefe's offense and things have worked out very well, but then those periods are short and as soon as we deviate, we go back downhill on offense quickly. I thought we were going to go 7-5 heading into the season, and until I see some evidence that Davis can put together 3 good games in a row on offense, I'll prolly stand by that. We could still win out, but I won't be shocked in the least if our sole remaining win is against Illinois, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we lost that game like 20 to 17. They have a freaking monster on that d-line and he is going to disrupt our offense unless we can neutralize him.

At least it didn't end up in the wrong hands and then have his dad come on here and ***** about it being everyone else's fault but his.

The good thing about JC is he rarely threw interceptions because the defender was normally too close to the reciever to make a play on the ball.

Um no. Think about this. 2010 stanzi was in the top ten in qb efficiency and we go 7-5. The year before, not even close and 11-2.
Too me this biggest disaster of coaching I've ever seen though was 2008. We basically had an nfl roster on both sides and had 4 losses.
Davis isn't good, kok, wasn't either. Kirk is the major problem with the offense. Always has been. All you have to do is look south to tcu and Gary Patterson. He saw that style wasn't getting it done so he CHANGED. And we're not talking about trying to mesh one style with another but a sold out change. Who's done it better?

Well watch it to see if you remembered correctly

I still had yet to watch that game. Was at a wedding that day. You're a horrible person for making me watch.
