Are my expectations unreal

That I don't think an annually top 5 paid coach with a staff that has been together for 12 years. Should lose 23 out of 30 close games. I suppose I should be happy they are close and expect nothing.

Be careful, you know it's off limits to criticize Kirk in this board. Go ahead and rip KOK and Norm after every loss because it's all on them. Kirk doesn't have anything to do with the disappointments. Kirk turned this program around. We will never sniff a BCS title run because we're Iowa. Sit back and enjoy all the Cap One and Outbackbowls we get to play in. The National Title is reserved for the powerhouses like Ohio St., Texas, Alabama and Florida.

Iowa fan is never satisfied, it seems like.

This guy has had 4 top ten finishes in the last ten years. Not many coaches can say that.

This coach coaches at iowa - lowest population state in the B10. Think of being the coach of OSU as it relates to recruiting - some years they never would really have to recruit outside its border.

The job they do year-in, year-out is very good.

Coach gets paid to win games. Coach gets paid to run a clean program and represent Iowa very well. Coach gets paid to make the University of Iowa money. I think that return on investment has been excellent, and I think you and every other iowa 'fan' who calls in after a loss to biatch about how much money Coach makes is foolish - especially those who say they'd be 'fired' if they gave that performance at work. (comparing themselves and their job to a Coach who just last year won a BCS bowl game and who came a back break away from going undefeated, and who helps generate millions of dollars for the university).

Name the last Iowa coach to have 4 top ten finishes.

I'm not a fairweather fan by any means, but this might be exactly the reason I prefer pro sports over college football. The idea of being content settling for winning a non-BCS bowl that no one outside of Iowa cares about is rather dull. I love college gameday environments, but I'm not one who is content with being decent. In the NFL, you compete for the Superbowl every year. If you make it to the playoffs and lose you don't brag about it.

Agreed about the money part. KF gets paid because he makes the university money and because he stimulates the local economy to a tune of 100 million annually. From an economic standpoint, it's totally logical to pay him handsomely.

However, 23 out of 30 is not a fluke statistic. It's a trend. I don't want KF fired. I want him to make some adjustments to improve on these and other weak areas.
