Appling to miss rest of regular season?

Sounds like it may be a possiblity based on a premium article for Spartan Tailgate. Haven't read the full article, but based on some of the comments, it didn't sound promising.

Appling Could Miss More Time

Hopefully Izzo plays him against Michigan and then shuts him down for the remainder of the regular season. We need MSU to beat Michigan and then we control our destiny with the game in East Lansing.

I hope so that IA have a better chance to win at Lansing. If Izzo is saving Appling for the dance, then it's a wise move. IA still have to win against the zebras too. Dev and company have to shoot lights out to take the zebras out of the equation.

I have no sympathy for Izzos. Iowa has played shorthanded for years due to injury, flunking out, breaking the law...you name it. Poor Izzo will just have to dig deep into the bench of hs all americans. Poor baby.

We will have to be 10-15 points better.

Here's a link to a Detroit Free Press article with a video of Izzo talking about Appling. He doesn't look happy.
I think without Appling, MSU could lose every game left on it's schedule save IL at home.
Keith Appling out rest of MSU regular season? Tom Izzo raises the possibility | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

Coming into this year I thought MSU's only weakness was a history of injuries. Dawson, Appling, and Harris were out for periods before this year. 2 of them and Payne have been hobbled this year. Could it be their rough style of play coming back to bite them?

My feeling is that this is just one of Izzo's manic depressive moods where the world is against him and the sky is falling, but look at how god we are despite it all. His rallying cry crap is old...he act is tired. I hope Iowa comes in with the right attitude...no dunks for them, no going up weak to the hole, no moving us off the block, and if you come into the lane...expect some contact fellas. To win a brawl, you have to come ready to brawl.

You did see Appling play last night, right? He ain't able to go and be effective.

How true that is, Lao....

The Penn State coach referred to our physical toughness as a factor in their loss....

I don't think the Lads have forgotten the ThugLike beating we took a couple years ago at East Lansing....

It very well could be. Perhaps teams are not taking it like before and fighting back, which is exactly how to do it. If another tean is pushing you around and the refs are permitting it, and calling ticky tack fouls on you, then when you foul you put them on the floor HARD......

If he does play Appling against us perhaps we should do what every other team would do and whack him on the wrist every time he has the ball.....

That is exactly what they would do.....

Play bruiser ball and eventually you will pay the consequences....

Of the chair slamming lore? That would be hard for a player to forget, I imagine.

That's what Nebby did.

Gee, I bet they wished that they would have the depth that Iowa has in minute distribution....

I expect to be completely screwed by the stripes the same as everytime we play the izzos.

Iowa will have to play through a ton of fouls while not being allowed to return the favor if they are to win.

I still think they may be up for the challenge though.
