Applewhite/Simms

Coach Davis has played two QBs in the past successfully. Just saying. It will be interesting. Hopefully we light people up early and get CJB time in the non-conf season

sims only played because of who his dad was. applewhite was the better of the two, anyone with a sense of sight could tell that.

Just playing devils advocate but I'd wager if you'd query the Texas guys they wouldn't say if was that successful per their thoughts. Now to be fair their fans aren't any different than ours pretty much second-guess the coach no matter what he does... I'm just pointing out I doubt they were all that excited about that platoon system

Please no two qb system. Uhhh. I got 99 problems and two qbs ain't one of em

Using two QB's is fine if you can exploit matchup problems and ride out the hot hand. Indiana seemed to do pretty well with it last year. NW was scoring points pretty easily too when they were healthy

Having lived in Austin during the Simms/Applewhite time I can tell you that Texas fans would not call it a success. He also did not play them in a 2QB system. Simms was the starter thanks to his dad, boosters, and the fact that he had all the physical tools to be a great QB and it showed in practice. Applewhite only came in when the team was losing and needed the spark that Applewhite could provide. Many fans never did forgive Mack for benching Applewhite in favor of Simms.

Let's not try to mimic the success of the Indiana football program.

Would love to see Iowa put up IU type of numbers on offense. They scored 52 vs OSU two years ago...not bad.
