Anyone tailgate at the Minnesota fairgrounds last year?

How fast does the parking lot fill up?
Are there cops cracking down on underage drinking?
How often do the buses shuttle people to the stadium?

Any information would be most helpful

I am also interested in tailgating information in this barren landscape. If anyone has details, please enlighten us.

I've parked there twice for games (USC and Iowa) and it has never filled up, don't know about the underage drinking but the shuttles run on a very timely schedule of every few minutes.

I parked at MN fairgrounds last year. Tailgating was reduced due to very cold weather. The parking area, however, is huge, so you should have plenty of room for tailgating. It was policed, so underage drinking would not be smart. Shuttle service was exceptional ... there were always 2-3 buses queued up waiting for fans at both ends. The ride was about 10 mins.

I think I took 35W north of downtown, east on hwy 36, then south on Snelling. It was very easy to reach.

Enjoy your trip ... may the outcome be improved from last year.

Went there last year.

GPS it to the fairgrounds....TONS of parking.

Shuttles were running regularly. Lots of partying and we didn't see one cop...then again it was 18 degrees.

Easy in and out. Beautiful stadium.

Shuttles were no charge and were located within two hundred yards or so of where we parked. About a ten minute ride to the stadium. Not dissimliar to the Hancher shuttles. You're let out right at the stadium.

They really do have the transportation thing down nicely.

I am shocked and appalled that someone has the nerve to ask about the drinking age...I am sending this thread to Iowa City's new "Online-Underage-Drinking-Prevention Unit" that uses the most advanced computer algorithms to search through social media and message boards to get the best intel on party locations to bust up. I for one am very thankful to have such a high end agency protecting our citizens here in Iowa City. It would be very traumatic for me to think that some 20 year old might be having some alcohol in the living room of some house!! Luckily this unit saves me from suffering that thought, with them on patrol I can sleep soundly knowing the students are all tucked away sleeping or drinking Capri Suns and playing Mancala late into the night.
