Anybody excited for Tuesday's presser with Kirk?

I'm sure the reporters present will ask the tough questions, like how in the hell do you fall for 7 fake punts in a row!? Or are you aware that you've recovered only 1 onside kick successfully out of the last 4 that have come your way, Kirk? Do you even work on special teams in practice?

Just inexcusable ****, constantly. And don't even get me started on his clock management skills, or lack thereof I should say. A freaking 10-year old can manage a clock better than him. Other coaches wouldn't get away with **** like this, because it's absolutely pathetic. It just blows my mind how simple mistakes like this keep happening, over and over again. These are easily correct-able things, but for some bizarre reason Kirk can't get it figured out.

Sorry, I just had to vent a little bit. /rant.

A coach couldn't ask for a better place as far as softball questions. Seriously, in most places after crapping the bed like Ferentz did he'd been crucified. I don't think there is one real journalist that covers Iowa football.

None that will stand up to kf.

Iowa sports media always seems to treat coaches with kid gloves, especially Ferentz.
I doubt the track record of consecutive fake punts will be brought up.
Also, our kick return coverage is brutal. It seems like every opposing return always breaks the first wave around the 20-yard-line. This will probably never be brought up, as most kicks are touchbacks.

Hayden was making under $200,000/season, and the media seemed to get under his skin.
Don't know if it was a different media-mindset then, or just Hayden being Hayden.

After the Minnesota presser was the first transcript I read in a while (thanks Jon).
Broken record is the perfect description of these. The Ferentz regime is a broken record, a la stale.

I will dvr it so I can watch it several times. Obviously I know I will miss many important points the first time so I want clean that up, certainly.

Don't bother, I will summarize it for you:

Opening statement

KF: Give credit to msu, they outplayed us.

Sports writer: can you comment on the fake punt?

KF: Well, we didn't stop it.

SW: Where was the breakdown?

KF: We just didn't tackle the guy?

SW: Were you expecting it?

KF: Expecting what?

SW: The fake punt?

KF: I am sorry, was there a question?

SW: Never mind

KF: Next question or statement or whatever. Let's be honest I am going to give coach speak answers I mean it's been 14 years you all know better.

SW: What was to offensive game plan?

KF: To run, pass if need be but got to execute. That is most important.

SW: MSU had the top run defense in the country, therehad to be some notion the run game might not get going what was the adjustments being discussed if it didn't get going?

KF: If what didn't get going?

SW: The run game.

KF: What about the run game?

SW: Seriously?

KF: Well I guess not, I mean it was your question.

SW: I quit.

KF: That's football.

SW: (noises from packing up his stuff)

KF: Next question, this is going well. One down 14 more to go. No questions?

(Crickets chirping, cough, cough)

KF: Well I got on you'll then, anyone got any gum? I am all out. Fresh out, I hate that.

Most places he wouldn't be the coach anymore. No, I'm not excited about any of his pressers

What if the press boycotted his pressers - just once - would it be a win-win?

also,

What questions would you like to hear him answer?

I've cooled off over the loss, but the Tuesday presser will probably tick me off again with Kirk's bland responses. I get it that his pressers are all the same and are filled with coach speak, but after so many staff induced losses over the past couple of seasons, I'm getting tired of the canned responses.

I'm not asking for a Paul Rhodes-type press conference, and I know you can't change the results of Saturday, but I'd like to see some sort of urgency out of Kirk.

The question of readiness for a fake punt was asked and answered in KF's post game interview. KF said they were in a return scheme which leaves you vulnerable to exactly what happened. Although he did not say it, because he would not blame his players, there were a couple of guys who were "look outs" who got knocked on their butts. So, your criticism of the press, at least in this single instance, was probably not justified. Also, I was at the game and absolutely furious when MSU succeeded with the fake punt. I think it cost us the game. I don't care for the explanation that we were in a return scheme; when you have a poor record in this area, which you rightly pointed out, you better get your act together and fix it. His comment that, "Maybe we should not run a return anymore" was NOT a good answer. I would have been tempted to reply: "Yup. You are right. Don't run a return anymore." An edit: Freed, I didn't mean this to be directed to your comment, except for the part about the media.

I just can't believe that his answer to that question would be accepted by any reporter or fan. I mean, you have got to be kidding me that a d-1a coach would respond with an answer like that. But, hey, he's gotten away with answers like this in the past. Nobody holds him accountable, so we should expect him to answer like this.
