Another Thing That Completely Perplexes Me...End of Half Play

It's also much more likely to end up a turnover. There was no downside to going into locker room at half up 7-3 at that point. You give yourself an opportunity (small as it may be) to score while minimizing the chances of giving OSU the ball back before half. You may not agree with the decision but I don't understand the confusion on why we did what we did.

You are pretty much answering my question and confusion for me without realizing it. Either you go for it and throw the ball around with risk of a TO, points or nothing, or you take a knee eliminating a TO and points possibility. Instead we RUN the ball and almost turn it over anyway. ARob fumbled and we were lucky to recover.

My original point was
A) Either open it up and try to get points or
B) Kneel and head to the locker room up 4.

and NOT
C) Run the stretch play and fumble

if we don't go for it with a three year starting QB and an all-time leading WR then we NEVER will. guess i'll just have to get used to it.

ok, timeout... we had the ball, with a 1:06 to play at our 20. i'm just as frustrated as the next guy when we go into ultra-conservative mode but i don't know if this was the time to open it up and try to go guns blazing to get us into field goal range.

It makes sense not to throw the ball around with a minute left. But it also makes sense not to throw long on 3rd and 2, and that's what they did the drive before. Coaches, if you're going to p*** me off by throwing on 3rd and 2, don't p*** me off again by not throwing with plenty of time left.

So was it time to run a run of the mill stretch play? We actually picked up 8 on it which is pretty much twice as much as Arob's average. Once again my point was, either go for it or don't, which means kneel with no chance for a TO or after you pick up 8 try and get some more.

i don't know why you're asking me- because i'm not going to debate whether it was the right call or not in a game/season where there's so much more to debate. why we ran stretch instead of kneeling on the ball to be conservative at the end of the half is beyond me. looks like there were other posters that wanted to try and sprint down the field to score, which was my original intention of the post.

obviously you don't agree with the call- good for you and thank you for making your point again i guess. i frankly i don't agree as well, but really don't care.

LOL, thanks for the good for me, I appreciate it. Wasn't questioning you or attacking you, I was just pointing out that either you go for it or you don't. Instead we did a quasi-go for it/quasi-don't which was actually much more dangerous than kneeling and carried as much of a consequence as going for it with a miniscule option of benefiting from it. I hope that made sense.

it completely does- to me, i was just as perplexed as to why you were asking me directly as i was more or less agreeing with you. sorry if it didn't come across that way.
