Another JUCO LB on Iowa Radar

Seth Wallace is down visiting Will Honas from Butler CC. Iowa has offered and he will be officially visiting on Dec. 8.

The Hawkeyes also will be checking in on fellow Butler LB Charlie Benton, who is verbally committed to West Virginia. Benton told me that Iowa has not yet offered. That could change today.

Rob - do you think they are going after all these JUCO LBs for depth/competition with the existing LBs coming back next year or because they are concerned about the talent of the returnees?

If Seth can land at least one of these guys it would be great. Getting both would give us some great depth again at this position.

I think they're looking for competition and experience. Iowa has very little experience at the position going into next year. Hockaday is the most experienced.

This is starting to concern me a bit. Targeting this many JUCOs is pretty far from the norm for KF.

It's an interesting change in philosophy if that's the case because we didn't do that at all after the 2013 season when we lost the Morris/Kirskey/Hitchens trio. I just wonder if after seeing them practice this year, if there's some concern as to the talent that is returning which is causing them to go the JUCO route now...

I think it's partially uncertainty in what they guys returning will do in games but also just brining in experience and adding depth. That said, Honas is the only one with an offer so far. The two Iowa Western kids are walk-on targets.
