Waukon LB Parker Hesse is the 17th commit for the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Class of 2014.
A two-star prospect, who started on both sides of the ball for Waukon, leading the team to an 11-2 record and an appearance in the Class 2A state championship game. He ran for 87 yards and a TD and threw for 223 and three scores. He picked off a pass on defense.
Defensively, Hesse finished the season with 59 tackles, 10 TFL, and two interceptions. On offense, as a starting QB, he threw for 1,439 yards and 16 TDs and rushed for 1,273 yards and had 23 TDs on the ground.
He's 6'3" 208 lbs. with scholarship offers from South Dakota State, Northern Iowa and Western Illinois. Minnesota and Northern Illinois were showing interest. A first-team all-state LB, the position at which he's being recruited by Iowa.
He joins Ben Niemann, Aaron Mends and Jameer Outsey as second level defenders in the Class of 2014.
