Annual Color Games Announced

I know some people don't like wearing a specific color to a game, but here are the "color" games for this year:

Be Bold Wear Gold - vs Northern Iowa - 2:30 p.m. (fans also encouraged to wear gold to Soldier Field weekend)

Blackout Saturday - vs Purdue - Time TBD - (also the game Iowa will be wearing the new uniforms)

Black and Gold Spirit Game - of course, night game vs Penn State at 7:00 p.m.

The Purdue game also honors veterans and current military members. I think Iowa does a very good job of this. We are asking for one of the worn uniform to be placed in our Vet's museum in CR, and I'm pretty sure they will grant of this request.

Honoring a current student who has served overseas at every home game, and the Nile Kinnick speech make me tear up.

It is one of the things I really like about Iowa football.

It's too bad they'll be wearing some jack-azz uniforms for the game.
 
anyone else think the novelty has worn off a bit with the themed games? I can see doing it once in awhile for a huge game, but UNI and Purdue?? Really?

They've always been lame, but yeah. Until the contract with Bravo Sports Marketing runs out, we'll just have to deal with these. They have t-shirts printed for the next several years.
 
Unfortunately Purdue is in November. I like Kinnick at night for blackouts.
I do agree the color games this year are weak sauce and it takes some of the luster out of it. I'm gonna call Gary up and let him know of my disapproval.

flyover by Maj. Christopher Kopacek in a national guard F16 would be awesome!
 
I don't mind having a gold-out and blackout every year, but I think the black/gold stripe games should be used less frequently. That looks really cool, but it'll go stale really quick if they use it every year. The home slate is not very good this year, with the only night game coming against a PSU team under sanctions. And on top of that, the Hawks aren't expected to be anything special.
 
ohhh and **** the idea of black and gold striped game for psu. we shouldnt do anything that calls attention to that game.
