And they say the NBA isn't "fixed"...

Lottery night. the T'wolves (perennial losers and always...screwed in the draft) have the greatest chance of the #1 pick. Cleveland, on the backend of the whole Lebron debacle...franchise in disarray... puts the owner's young son onstage for the draw. Made for TV moment.

I turned to the guys at the bar with 6 picks left and said, "I guarantee Cleveland will get the #1 pick".

And...

Tell me this is just a coincidence.

Twolves fans should thank Stern. Kahn woulda taken Kyrie and lord knows they dont need another pg.

Yeah, because Stern knows that the way to generate interest and revenue in the league is not to get a high pick to run with one of the best and most dynamic young players in the NBA, but to have a cute moment with a 9 year old at an event no one watches.

It is obvious the NBA is desperate to lift the profile of Boobie Gibson and allow Kevin Love to wallow in obscurity.

funny how we don't see the lottery take place.....we just see the outcome

D Rose to the Bulls, in addition to your Lebron example

I'm with you as a conspiracy theorist here

They don't? Their starting guard is Luke Ridnour and their backup Johnny Flynn hasn't done anything. They have solid PF's in Beasley and Love. They would have been a lock to take Kyrie and would have been dumb not to.

Really? The Twolves had a 5% better chance than the Cavs for the #1 pick. TWolves had a 25% chance and Cavs had 19.9%. It's not that big of a surprise that the Cavs got the 1st pick.

In fact, not since 2004 has the team with the greatest chance won it when the Orlando Magic did

You're looking at the wrong pick. The Cavs pick that won was the pick that came from the Clippers, which had a 2.8% chance.

And you're right nothing is going to entice Ricky Rubio to come over more than drafting another PG. Hey Ricky come over to America and you can split time with Kyrie!

Really? The pick that Cleveland won the lottery with originally belonged to the Clippers. That pick had a 2.8% chance of winning the lottery.

The Cavaliers original pick landed them the 4th selection. The lottery only draws for the top 3 picks then the teams remaining get picks 4-14 based on their regular season record. So Cleveland's pick that only had a 5% less chance of winning the lottery than the Wolves pick actually didnt get picked at all for the top 3 spots.

Yeah my bad. I saw that wrong

At this point, who cares about Ricky Rubio? You drafted him 2 years ago and he still hasn't joined your team. Do you pass on the best player in the draft, on a position the team needs the most, for a kid who hasn't joined your team yet? I wouldn't. Plus the kid hasn't even shown to be that good

David Kahn cares about Ricky Rubio. Why give up on a top five pick after only two years without ever seeing him play for your team? It sounds like there's a pretty good chance that he actually comes over this year but that won't happen if they draft Irving. Also, it's not like the T'Wolves are just a pg away from contending, they have lots of holes to fill.

Pretty well said. They have Love, Wesley Johnson and a bunch of holes to fill. Rubio is still very young, 19 or 20 I believe?

Beasley was actually a nice pickup for them last season. But playing those three together makes for a terrible defensive lineup. I would go with Enes Kanter if I was Kahn, I think Derrick Williams will turn out to be basically a clone of Michael Beasley.

I understand, but here are my questions.

Who would you rather take right now? Rubio or Kyrie?

Why was Kahn so upset last night about not getting the #1 pick if he didn't also want Kyrie?

The twolves have inside guys. They need a taller center but also the #1 need is a PG. I think Rubio is a bigger risk at this point than Kyrie

He was mad because he thought the draft was rigged for Cleveland. And why wouldn't he want the number one pick?

If Rubio comes over their number one need is no longer a point guard. By drafting a big guy and bringing Rubio over you can plug two holes at once, by drafting Irving you're basically giving up on Rubio and trying to trade him while his value is low. Kyrie Irving is probably going to be a solid pg, but he probably won't even be a top ten pg for several years, there are a ton of good young pgs in this league, he's not a franchise guy. I think you might as well give Rubio a shot before you give up on him.

Interesting fact - the Timberwolves have never improved their draft position through the lottery. I am not into conspiract theories, but that is some bad luck. By the way, that's 14 times out of 22 years.

Ricky Rubio will never wear a T-Wolves jersey.

Its pretty obvious he doesnt want to be a part of that franchise
