Am I right or wrong?

Saw quite a few derogatory statements on OT Jackson whiffing a couple times on pass protection. One case was a corner blitz that got to stanley causing a fumble. My thought is that it's Stanley's responsibility to check off a play when he sees a blitz coming. Right or wrong that it's not always Jacksons fault?

I think Stanley shares some of that responsibility. I believe Glen Mason even said so on the broadcast. The QB has to recognize the corner blitz and the fact that there might not be anyone to block him.

A CB blitz is seldom the responsibility of the blitz side tackle. In most cases, the identification of the Mike LB sets the protection, helping to indicate who the OL/RB is going to take care of with called protection. The QB is usually responsible for any free rushers beyond that.

Profile picture checks out.

This is the least of our concerns. The OL has only given up 5 sacks all year ... one of the lowest totals in the country.

That play was not a CB blitz. That was just Jackson getting beat 1-one-1 vs. Carter Coughlin, who is listed as a LB but I believe was lined up in a down position on that play (can't find video of the entire play to verify).

I agree. Anyone highlighting this play as a problem with Jackson's blocking is just a putz.

Jackson whiffed on two plays and both cost us points. I honestly thought Jackson played his worst game as a hawk on Saturday, it would be interesting to see his grade. Having said that, I don't think he played horrible, he's still a guy i'd go to war with every week, and I think were just so used to him being dominant, it was an easy thing to point out this week because its so out of the norm for what he's shown the last two years. He's pretty steady usually. Just had an off-game, and it happens. He doesn't usually get beat by speed rushers, but struggled on Saturday, but honestly the whole line struggled in some areas on Saturday. They had trouble with the size of the one dt, and it really was making everything difficult for them. I do agree though, not to worried about that, I'm sure they will get running game figured out this week.

Yeah he had 2 bad plays. But our pass protection this year for the most part has been light years ahead of where it's been the last couple years. Jackson is a RS sophomore right? The dude is as big as a mountain and occasionally if the player he's going against times the snap just right and speed rushes him that'll cause him the most problems. But we are talking about just a couple of snaps over the course of 25% of the season so far. I'm sure he like every other lineman wants to shore that up. I'm way more worried about their blocking in the running game than I am pass protection... We gotta get better at that

Looking at the video above, Stanley is better at seeing pressure, but still not good. Better at lofting the ball but it isn't natural.
