Iowa native, '85 alum and Hawkeye for life here. I live in Southern California now. I'm heading back with the wife and daughter to the Wisconsin game and can't wait to be back to the Motherland. I was able to book a room at the Riverside Casino hotel for Friday night, but I'm striking out on finding someplace to stay Saturday. I'm open to anything nice within striking distance of Iowa City, since I'm heading back to Des Moines to fly home Sunday. Any suggestions?

There's a motel in West Branch that I'm not sure many people realize is there, so they might possibly have rooms. It's called the Presidential Inn, and while it's not the Ritz, they did just do some remodeling. I've never been inside, though.

How old is your daughter? If she's like 3-14 look into the Clarion in Little Amana on I-80(Williamsburg). They have an awesome indoor waterpark and a few restaurants to pick from, or only 12 miles from restaurants in Coralville. check out Hotwire.com for a great price. We stayed there a few weeks ago and it really worked out great.

West Branch is the wrong way, it's East of IA City.

There's a Quality Inn at I-80 & Exit 164 in Newton, IA or a Sleep Inn at the Brooklyn Exit (I think it's 201) on I-80. Those are both on the way back to Des Moines. OR you could be back in Des Moines by 8:30-9:00 PM after the game. Once you get out of Ia City, traffic rolls along about 80-85 all the way back. 1:45-2:00hrs max.
