On conditioning from QB to LB: Said always tries to stay in great conditioning, so feels good how he is with the move to LB

Who did you talk to? Coach gave me an opportunity to think about it. My family was supportive. My dad was excited.

-He is going to keep #17

This is first time he has been at LB..no QB reps this week at all, all defense.

On suspension, says he has to put the team first and stop being stupid.

I watched him on the kickoff where he made the tackle...some nifty footwork to get around a blocker and to the ball carrier.

Seems risky, but I like it. Weinke and him seemed neck-and-neck at #2. I interpret this as an endorsement of Ruddock as the heir apparent. Thye probably thought Ruddock would beat out Derby at QB when Vandenberg leaves so why not move Derby to LB now. I'm wondering if this changes their QB recruiting strategy this year. They would've taken one, now is it two?

Happy with the change nice that Derby got a tackle on ST right off the bat.

You can't have your QB getting suspended for being stupid. I imagine he was strongly urged to consider a move to LB.
