After Syracuse Game

I didn't think we would win this game and came in hoping for a complete effort from the team. While I don't think we got the complete game effort (meaning us competing throughout the game) I liked seeing the team coming back and not giving up. Uthoff played great in the second half. if I had to guess, I think Fran talked to him after the last game or at least at halftime and he played great.

Against this Syracuse defense, Ogelsby did what I was hoping for in the first half taking and making 3's. Mike played better, although that isn't a big leap from yesterday. All that said, I feel better about this team today than I did yesterday. At the end of the day, you are your record and we're 2-2. We need to win against ISU, North Carolina, or win a game on the road against a very good team to see us anywhere outside of the NIT.

Here's what I think...

i think we played better than we did against Texas. Not surprising because Texas is a MUCH better team than Syracuse.

Don't let the team name confuse you... That's a bad Syracuse team in terms of their tradition. They wouldn't be ranked had it not been Syracise.

When it came down to it and game was on the line with 2 minutes left...

Syracuse got layups and dunks. We couldn't even get shots off.

I think because this team's guard play is so bad that it will be very difficult to win games in the last 5 minutes.

On a positive I like Woodys progression and want to see Uthoff stay agressive.

Agreed. Guard play is going to be key this year. We don't need anything great, but need Mike, Anthony, Ogelsthree, and Jok to force teams to respect them shooting from 3.

At this point in the season, I was happy to see that the team didn't fold when they were down double digits.

Lot of dumb mistakes. And, a lot of the same crap we've seen in the last couple seasons. But, I was impressed with the comeback against a team that is probably more talented. That may not be worth much.

The missed call on the basket interference on the Adam Woodbury in the first half could have changed everything. Iowa going into the final possessions up 1 rather than down one and it probably would have played out differently. I don't know how they missed that, it was so obvious.

I'm sorry but moral victories in year 5 is pathetic. Over in Lames they are in year 5 with their coach as well and have a Final Four caliber team and will be in their 4th straight NCAA tourney! Fran's inability to close the deal on recruiting trail is starting to show itself. The complete lack of a quality PG at this point is very concerning and there is nothing in the foreseeable future to help either.

Things have gone this way for Iowa for years now. I told my wife after that no-call and White's blocked bunny that those plays are what costs Iowa close games and said we'd lose by a possession for it. Sore enough, turned out that way. It's become tradition at Iowa. Wasn't surprised. Nothing does with Iowa athletics.

That's just sports at the college level.

You look at any close football or basketball game in the eyes of the losing team and it's a play here or a bounce there.

Good teams just find a way to overcome those.

I'm still waiting for this team to show up on the big stage. They sucked at it last season and are continuing that this season.

Really ticked off at the effort the last two games.
