I woke up this morning with a fresh perspective on the McCaffery hire. Mainly, I am excited to see an uptempo style of basketball, and I read a comment posted somewhere earlier where McCaffery mentioned "letting the players play", which I think is a great thing. I don't believe the players were really llowed this at all under Lickliter. The rare times when the team did get up and down the floor a little bit this year I personally thought was when the team looked its best, or at a minimum, was most entertaining.
I'm also encouraged by the comments I've read so far from the players and incoming recruits about liking the uptempo style, etc. Hopefully that bodes well for recruiting and player retention. The two areas that I thought really were Lickliter's undoing.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes the next few years, and anticipating some fast breaks. I'll be excited when next season starts. Clean slate, fresh start, new hope. Hopefully the rebirth of Iowa hoops.
