After reading about the Magic Bus - GDR

We have leased the lot at 821 Melrose (next to the Magic Bus) for over ten years. When I read about all the problems they are having, I decided to call the City of Iowa City and check it out.
I was told that if vendors had an agreement with the property owner to do business, they do not need a permit. All of the businesses on Melrose have been grandfathered into this agreement.
If a business is doing an operation that affects the neighbors and the neighborhood, the neighbors have the right to complain and that business will be evaluated. At that time a permit may or may not be required.
I feel this is an extremely fair way to handle the situation.
Tailgating is an important part of Hawkeye football. It can be a lot of fun as long as it does not become abusive to those around it. Enjoy the day and respect those around you.

I would think the MB would have an agreement with the new property owner thus making what they are making the MB do the opposite of what they told you. Yes other neighbors can complain but how you worded it they seem to be singling the MB out which is what the MB is stating themselves.

I use to enjoy going to the Magic Bus. But I don't know if I'm getting old or what, but it's just too crowded for me anymore. There are times where you literally can't move because you are packed in like sardines.

I hope the Magic Bus stays because it's a tradition of Iowa tailgating. But if it does leave it won't impact my tailgating experience at all.

Burky, I kind of feel the same way. I went one time last year just in case it closed down for good. Before that it had been a couple of years.

I just feel the city and the residents of that neighborhood are being a tad bit hypocritical. Do people park cars in their lawns in the new neighborhood? Where people crank up their radios. Yes the MB volume will be louder but it seems the residents act like it is quite as can be right now. The city is being hypocritical with their only the MB need to get a permit stance.
