Dear Ruddok:

The endzone is in back of you and in front of you at Michigan, too.

I doubt you will be more beloved there for throwing sideways than you were here.

But have your tantrum, little one. It is all about you, after all.

Best,

Dr. Prof

What is this tantrum you're speaking of. I guess I'm not aware of it.

I have already laid out that there is almost nowhere to go but down when leaving Iowa. These kids think they can make it with out kirk and greg but they fall on their face.

I get what you're saying and I feel the same way. Unfortunately, Rudock may understand his playing days at Iowa are over and he just wants to play one more season. You can't fault the guy for wanting to play instead of riding the pine.

Kirk made it pretty clear he's likely going with Beathard next year. He has one year left. Where's the problem? Ever consider Kirk changed it to Beathard on the infamous depth chart to give Rudock a heads up and be up front with him? Rudock is a good kid who actually breathed a little life into the program his first year after that horrible 4 win season. If he can play for a division 1 team elsewhere and actually start rather than riding the pine here, he deserves the opportunity to do so.

Dear Jake,

Thanks for your dedication to Iowa football while you were here. I encourage you to transfer to Michigan and play a year for Coach Harbaugh, if all parties indeed want that. You would probably admit that you're not going to play in the NFL so this is probably your last year of organized football. I wish you the best of luck and don't blame you for wanting your last year of football eligibility to be spent at a fine university like the U of M. If this really happens, I'll be rooting for you (especially since you wouldn't be playing Iowa anyway, unless it was in the B1G Championship game, an unlikely scenario and one for which I'd be so thrilled that Iowa was there I wouldn't really root against you anyway) so best of luck.

He made it clear that he's going with Beathard. I seem to remember a game when KF said C.J. would get plenty of playing time but when the time came Jake played 95% of the game. No way Kirk names a starter in January and sticks with him without saying every position is open when spring practice starts. He's not going to change that now. For the record I pushed for C.J. at the end of the 13 season and I think he's our best qb. I just don't believe Kirk is going to put Jake on the bench without giving him a shot to win the job.

Until I'm proven otherwise, im going to stick with my contention that KF did this as early as he did to see just how CJ would react in the offseason to being named "leader" of the team going into next year. Will he put in the film room time necessary? Will he show the leadership necessary to be "the man"? Will he be the first to team meetings? The last to leave the weight room? All of the things a team needs out of its starting QB that doesn't have anything to do with having a big arm.

Thanks for reminding us that Jake designed the offensive game plan and called all of the plays. If you can't see that he played better when the offense was loosened up a bit, you're blind. If you think it's Jake's fault we have struggled the past couple of seasons...well, then you're just not paying attention.

As much as I hate to say it, Jake and the offense would have been so much better under that OC we all wanted to run out of town...can't remember his name... That offense actually called for plays down the field and threw to the TEs with regularity.

Need "like" button, as stupid thumbs-up icon is insufficient.

I honestly can't fault a QB (whether it be CJ or Jake) that would be upset if they were "neck and neck" and a starter was named more the half a year before the season starts. Makes sense to me especially since it was a relatively short time after a QB basically presented the coach with an ultimatum.

I don't honestly have a dog in the fight as I think both QBs really need to develop, but I absolutely hate the way the situation played out/was handled. I couldn't blame either one for feeling betrayed and wanting to leave. And this is coming from someone who is still undecided as to whether its time for a new coach.

More importantly, will he have any tests or labs that get in the way of practice?
