Adrian Peterson case

I get that cutting a switch is common discipline in the South. But if he injured that boy and cut his skin and bruised him, then he should be charged. Any of us 30+ grew up with getting whooped if you did wrong. But I never got cut or bruised. This is just bad for AP, the NFL, and that boy. It's been a bad week for NFL PR.

I've never felt worse about humanity then I do now after reading online...so many idiots defending him and spanking.

This is not a spanking. These horrible pictures were taken over a week after the abuse. Anyone who thinks this any sort of ok is a horrible monster.

He'll be suspended a max of 6 games and won't leave Minnesota unless more allegations come out. Minnesota already ruled out cutting him but might look at trades if things get worse.

I realize that the Vikqueens have activated Abusin' Adrian for Sunday,s game agin Nawlins, but I'll say the odds are slim and none that he takes the field.

Look, if you beat kids, be it with a switch or with your hand, you're a piece of $#it, and you oughta have the same done to you.

If this dbag did to an adult what he did to his son, he'd be charged and convicted on assault and battery and he'd be dealing with a tortious battery civil suit.

I've got zero tolerance for the abuse of children. If I witness it, look out below.

I think what bothers me the most about the whole thing is that he came out immediately and said it was disciplinary, like he did absolutely nothing wrong. Unfortunately we live in a society where people are subjected to this as children and think that because their parents did it to them its acceptable as a form of punishment.

Not that it's the only way to discipline, but I'm not opposed to spanking kids, although I wouldn't choose to go that route myself. I got spanked when I was a kid - it sent a message, but there was no lasting pain (just the initial sting) and certainly no injury, bruises, cuts, etc. It was just enough to get my attention and send a message, not a total butt-woopin'. Contrary to what Thunder says, my parents were anything but "pieces of $h!t". I got spanked, it smarted a little bit, but I was fine and I knew darn well not to do it again. There's a fine but distinct line between discipline and ABUSE.. A little discipline goes a long way. Just don't do it with a stick.

Unfortunately our society has gotten to the point where if you spank kids, child services will show up on your doorstep. We've replaced that with "time outs". Yeah, that'll teach 'em not to do it again.

I'm not saying that spanking shouldn't take place, but the problem I see with it is that in a handful of cases, the parent is worked up and may not realize how much force or aggression is being taken out on the kid. I know a few children that will taunt the individual doing the spanking (I was one of those kids) adding more fuel to the fire. I don't see anything wrong with a little swat, but in my opinion anytime an object (belt, switch, etc...) is used its crossing the line.

How many of us have been hit by a strap/belt of some sort? My old man used his belt...sure it left a welt, but, I guess I deserved it....I agree in today's society regarding children they are the innocent ones that a parent (or parents) take punishment/and even exploitation to a whole new level....A good swat on the a$$ is not a bad thing imo, but what AP did was abuse....I don't buy that "well, we're from the south and that's what we got across our behinds...a switch".....once abused as a child, you can, or even possibly will become the abuser...
