Add Hayden Fry's name to B1G Trophy

With Paterno being taken off, they should consider adding Hayden Fry's name.

When he came into the league, it was ten years of Michigan or Ohio State winning going to the Rose Bowl. It was three-yards and a cloud of dust.

Fry comes in and takes Iowa to the Rose Bowl in two years...he (along with Illinois' Mike White) usher in an era of balanced offenses. Many other teams in the Big Ten look to Iowa as a model for success as in 'If Iowa can do it, so can we'.

In the 32 years since Fry came into the league, everyone save Minnesota and Indiana has won at least one Big Ten title (not counting Nebraska)

Fry was an innovator, he was also a racial integrator and a great man. He should get consideration if the B1G wants to add another name to the trophy

Yeah, he only put being a football coach ahead of all else. You know like the inncoence of children. He may have been a good coach (though I don't think he's done any coaching for about 5 years now), but thi is about legends and leaders. How can you be a leader if you've let the things happen that he did.

If I were a betting man I'd say they just leave it as the staggs trophy. You can't put Bo on there cause the fOSU guys get their panties in a bunch, and you can't put Woody on there because of the way his career ended.

That was through beauty of Staggs and Paterno. Staggs didn't ruffle feathers because Chicago is no longer in the league and Paterno didn't ruffle any feathers at that point.

This highlights why there should not be names on these trophies, or at least make it a requirement that they are dead people. Not sure how they could put Bo or Woody on there since they are already on the coach of the year award. It seems that since Stagg was from the UofC though they could probably just leave this one with one name.

The conference won't add anyone else's name to the trophy right now. Too hot of a potato to handle. It'll take a while for emotions to cool; at that point it likely will become the Stagg-Bielema trophy.
