Can anyone explain the rationale for including UNI on Iowa's schedule? 2009, 2012, 2014, 2018 just to name a few.

If you are going to pay for a FCS school to come in and play Iowa they might as well keep the money in state.

haha! Too bad there wasn't another school in state so we could just play an all-Iowa round robin for the non-con every year. It'd be like printing gold!

Better idea: How about doing a 2 year on, 2 year off rotation between ISU & UNI?

Going to a 9-game BIG schedule will be brutal. Plus we always play home/away with ISU, and usually another BCS school (like Pitt/AZ, etc). Need someone we won't have to go home/away with. Plus doing a 'local' school a 'favor' (ie payday). On top of that, the BIG will NOT allow scheduling any FCS schools moving forward. So these days are done my friend. Meanwhile, FLA and FSU and others continue to schedule FCS schools, Creampuff Tech, etc in all their OOC games

The first portion in bold will likely be go away with said 9-game conference schedule. Also, Iowa is going to continue playing UNI according to Barta, so that was more like a recommendation from the B1G. They also have a game coming up against NDSU.

Are you afraid of them? A win is a win. We will have enough big names on the schedule as it is....

As a guy who nearly had a gripper when the best Iowa team in the past 10 years needed two blocked kicks at the end of the game to beat UNI in 2009, I'm terrified of them. If we're going to play a D-IAA team, it should be a really bad one.

We used to beat the snot out of UNI, then they got better and we stayed about the same.

The 2009 hawk team was very underwhelming in that game and not near as good as just a few weeks later,

As long as we can play FCS schools bring on UNI because it gets hard to fill in your schedule with all this conference mumbo jumbo going on.
