Aaron Mends

Can’t think of a bigger kick in the nuts to a college football player.

5 years of working your ass off only to find out you’ll never play ball. What a shitty deal.

I know he wasn’t ready as a freshman and that it varies by situation, but this is why I absolutely hate freshman burning their shirt right away if there’s any possibility they can play.

You would hope he could get a medical redshirt, if he wants to rehab back to game shape.
Can he? The whole Ott deal doesn't have my hopes up for him. That left a pretty bad taste in my mouth and I'm sure the coaches and Ott when the NCAA turned down his request. I don't know what to think anymore in regards to that sort of thing

Under current rules his clock runs out at five years unless he can show a second previous year missed due to injury, in addition to the coming year.

It's ok for a school to pay a recruit's father $180k (Cam Newton) and it's ok for schools to have fake classes as long as regular students are involved (Roy Boy), but we gotta follow the rule to the letter when it comes to granting 6th years.

It was pretty cool to read KF venting about Ott's situation in the presser. I am guessing he will be mentioning it quite a bit more until Mends's future is determined. Kind of a reminder how they have screwed over good kids in the past.

Yeah but dude, he has put in his time.
He has had multiple injuries. Which all they have to do is show documentation of for one year, besides this one and he should qualify.
I have no idea if he even wants to, but if he does, he deserves a shot.
Btw, I agree with KF, that Ott stuff was horse shit and they should be ashamed of themselves.
