A very promising stat

Iowa is currently 7th in the nation with 0.77 steals per turnover (9.1 steals per game (ranks them 29th) and 12.2 TO per game(ranks 41st)). With a young team, it is nice to see that they can take care of the ball and get steals. To be playing up tempo, the 12.2 TOs per game is a nice surprise.

So true. Valuing the ball is something that is falling by the wayside in hoops. I took my 7 year old son to a Twolves game last year and I quickly realized I needed to teach him that the Wolves could care less about that orange/brown thing. Michael Beasley was so loose and casual with the ball, I couldn't believe he was allowed on the court.

The Hawks played a good game last night, but the travels were ridiculous. That's grade school basketball. No excuse.

Do they count it as a turnover every time our guys got called for traveling?

Yes, some of those calls last night were rather bogus. Some definitely should have been called, but others killed the quality of the game. Just let them play(unless it is blatanly obvious or getting out of control)!

I thought the foul calls were a little tight, but I felt we actually got away with a few travels. Gatens's 3-pointer near the end was one of a handful where our guy shuffled both feet before shooting (from what I saw). Of all our problems before this game, though, traveling wasn't really one of them, so I'm not really concerned about it.

Traveling in the college game frustrates me. When did a head/ ball fake at the top of the key become an automatic traveling call while its perfectly ok to take 3 stutter steps to come to a stop to pass or shoot.

its not just Iowa players
watched a couple game and the travelling calls were suspect at best
must be a point of emphasis this year, because if even looks like a travel they call it
