a question on few in-state kids

Last year I watched quite a few games in 4A (MVC and playoffs). This board has talked about Hill and Harrington but I thought the most impressive kid I saw was Ross Pierschbacher (sp). He was the first freshman to start at Cedar Falls ever, but yet played like a man among boys. He'll be a soph this year and I read on another board that he visited Oklahoma already. I hope the Hawks dig in early on this kid.

Another kid that really grabbed the eye was Josh Jahlas from Kennedy. I went to see Christian French attempt to play football, but he'll never be a quarter of the player Jahlas is. That kid played free safety and looked to be in the same mold as Greenwood/Sash. Could cover alot of field but ran the alley and delivered hits. I know recruiting is all about the measureables, I don't know his 40 but he looks to be in 6'2 200 range for a body.

The last kid I really wonder about Amos Lavella from City High. He has no position it seems. Definitely undersized. When I saw City High it seemed like the kid could lineup at any position on the defense, but he was literally unblockable, and the most disruptive and instinctive football player in the state last year. If anyone is familiar with City's program, do you think he could play safey at the next level? I would bet if he walked on at Iowa he would become a crowd/message board favorite just playing special teams even. If he can't play at the next level but you have the chance to watch him next year I'd do it. That kid is an animal.

Josh is a multi-sport athlete at Kennedy. He plays football, basketball, track, and baseball. You ask about his speed. This past spring was his first time out for track. He was a sprinter and qualified for Drake and State, we believe in the 400. Not sure of his 40 time. Josh camped at ISU this summer, as he had to miss a baseball game. Very good kid and football is the sport that will help him go to the next level.
