A&M might not be SEC's 1st Choice

Texas doesn't want to have anything to do with the SEC. I just can't see it happenin'. Too much pride at stake, if you make the move, you're takin' a huge step back in regards to acedemics.

Do you realize the SEC is tied to ESPN and ESPN is sweating the current situation of Texas and Oklahoma to the PAC 10 which means Fox will be doing another TV network which cuts into ESPN's control and pie. Texas is the big jewel in this game so it's in ESPN's thus the SEC's best interest to try and snare them.

I see this as a longer shot than Texas to the Big Ten as Texas does not want to compete with major powers who have lower academic standards and does not want the SEC openly recruiting the state of Texas. No chance of this.

There are no benefits of texas going to the SEC. Tougher competition on the field. tougher recruiting, worse academics etc etc.. The Pac 10 is their best choice especially with oregon falling apart off the field and USC cheating their way to new sanctions. Oklahoma to the SEC however makes alot more sense in my opinion

I have gone on record from a long time ago about Texas to the Pac Ten, but until last week I just didn't see OU in the picture. The Pac Ten is just not a good fit form them. SEC is much better.

Also, considering the bloom went off the rose alot with the USC situation and I would expect every team, except Texas that the SEC went after would have to consider the offer closely.

sucks to be Colorado ... they wanted to get with the Pac-10 schools and instead the original Pac-8 is going to stick the AZ schools and CO in the Big XII South

I'm really confused about the report to be honest. Some of it is saying that the SEC doesn't think A&M is a big enough fish for them to expand and yet it also says that they want the Dallas / Houston markets and A&M could bring them (which is very true).

Of course every conference wants TX to join. They are the #1 revenue program in the country and probably one of the most recognizable schools nationwide.

No way they would raid the ACC? Come on. This is a money grab and I'm fairly certain that every school is open at this point. The funny part is there isn't a single mention of ND in most of the recent insider source articles. I wonder what ND is thinking at this point.

As for ND. If they refuse to join the Big10 then simply don't have any of the Big10 programs schedule them going forward.

I just don't get what the Big12's fascination with the PAC10 is to be honest. The fans and programs of the TX programs are nothing like the West coast teams. The only true Pac10 powerhouse is USC and they may not even be relevant in years to come due to their sanctions. What do the TX programs have to gain by heading West?

I agree that the best fit for the SEC is OK. The SEC is at 12 right now,I believe. So adding both OK and A & M would make sense. Of course Texas is the big kahuna ,but I agree that the Horns are never going to the SEC.
It would be huge to tear OK away from OK St, and A & M away from Texas...that is a big leap. But, like with Iowa-ISU, it would set up an annual non-conference game of national interest for all four schools. Of course, OK-Texas might also have to remain, which makes a tough non-conf schedule for Texas...A& M and OK? in the non-conference? whoa. Could impact their national title hopes.

I think as the reality of adding a school draws near, these conferences get a little hinky considering...does the addition actually enhance our brand? Penn St. and Neb. enhance the Big Ten brand...so would ND....and Texas...that is about it for the Big Ten. Now, the SEC does not have the bar set as high,so OK and A& M would enhance their brands, but A & M has to think about their academic reputation.

As for the Pac Ten /Big 12 shotgun wedding? I am not buying this is a no-brainer enhancement for the Big 12 and Texas. The Pac Ten tv ratings will never be good out east where the people are due to the time zone deal. I think Texas will hesitate and take one long last look at retaining the core of the Big 12 and maintaining their big dog status. Hell, ISU and the Kansas schools would let Texas form their own network ,take 90% of tv revenue and offer up their wives and daughters to Texas right now,if they keep it together. Texas might just do that.
