A&M has egg on face.....

I was wondering if they weren't posturing given no word from SEC up until now. Longhorns are LTAO and Aggies tails are between their legs.

I don't know. I never ONCE heard A & M directly quoted or anything official from them. It was all, "According to ESPN..." and "Fox Sports is reporting..."

I'll bet their fan base is pi&&ed off, though.

I don't expect this to be the end of things.

After all, the Big Ten didn't extend an invite to Nebraska, Nebraska had to apply to join the Big Ten.

Everything about this could change at a moment's notice. So, no, I see no egg at this point.

This has be a difficult time in College Station. They are in a conference they do not want to be in and they made it quite obvious. The obvious dislike for all things U of Texas and its control of the other eight schools has to be addressed.

Texas needs to go in my estimation. The remaining nine could replace UT with the U of Houston and do just fine as a 10 team league. They still have a big name in Oklahoma and who is to say another conference member couldn't rise up to fill Nebraska's role as Oklahoma's nemesis in the old Big 8.

I keep reading about 11-1 votes by the AD's for UT's positions. After one fracture a year ago and now the latest near fracture I think the old Big 8 schools remaining need to lay down the law to Texas, we are a revenue sharing conference and if you cannot accept that don't let the door hit your backside on the way out.

I'm not thinkin' OU stays in that confederation without UT.

As for laying down the law...without UT the rest of that group don't get squat.

If the B12 kicks out Texas (if that is even possible), they lose their TV contracts and the whole thing falls apart. Have fun doing equal sharing of 30% of the TV money....

What has Texas done wrong? They discussed a B12 TV network with the conference, but no one was interested. They discussed a Texas-based TV network with A&M, but A&M said no. So they finally started their own network.

Exactly. For all the b**ching and moaning A&M has been doing about the Longhorn Network, they had a chance to be partners in a Lone Star Network and get paid too but declined.

Sure,
But their taking the stove, fridge, micro-wave, sofa, TV's, recliners, dining table and chairs, beds, dressers, night stands, cars, lawn equipment, washer and dryer, and half of the illegal drugs and leaving the Oklahoma ceiling fans and Oklahoma fat chicks behind. Have a nice life! :) Don't get me wrong I hate Texas as much as the next guy, but without Texas all that is left in that conference is Oklahoma.

Are we sure that U of Texas really is the foundation and anchor for the Big XII? The old Big 8 survived fine until they got mixed up with the old Southwest Conference Members. Sure the U of Texas has a whole lot of wins, but it was basically done in the Texas league. When you start to compare Texas and Oklahoma, Oklahoma has a better all time program and a whole lot more accomplishments. I think recent history is causing folks to over estimate the value of Texas.

If I am a college other than Texas I think I risk taking less money for the stability of schools that want to be compatible and work together. Are there that many great conference games that Texas vs ? will draw big audiences? Other than Texas vs Oklahoma and Texas vs A&M there are not many national audience type of Big XII games. Others are free to disagree, but the 800 lb gorilla called Texas is not a conference fit.

This. Doesn't anyone remember how things went with Nebraska? Big Ten meets, no we aren't inviting anyone at this time. INVITING. If you invite, then you can get sued. Look at the ACC/Big East thing. So now you meet and make sure the team will have the votes. Then you backchannel to them letting them know that they can apply if they want to (if they don't have the votes you tell them not to bother). The fact that A&M is still having their meeting tomorrow and Tuesday with the Texas legislative committee and that the SEC is then meeting on Wednesday should tell you what is probably going on.

That's ridiculous.

The Big 8 also had Nebraska when they were one of, if not THE dominant force in college football. The Big 12 doesn't have that now (nor does the Big Ten, for that matter). Colorado was a pretty good, too.

Without Texas, Oklahoma won't stick around. Not because Texas is in and of itself the foundation of the Big 12 (even though they kind of are). But if Oklahoma were to leave, then Texas wouldn't be sticking around, either.

Yep....I am going to let this play out a little bit longer before I make a statement like A&M has egg on their face.

They need to get the SEC invite to avoid a giant lawsuit from other big 12 schools. It's a matter of timing. It's happening.

Exactly. The SEC probably didn't extend an invitation maybe because there would be legal ramifications. That doesn't mean the Aggies didn't or couldn't apply for admission. This will all play out in due time.

The SEC isn't going to invite them and set themselves up to the lawsuit. If A&M wants in they will need to Apply to take all the liability burden off the SEC.

How could this be? It was just posted on this message board, last week that this was official!!! I think whover posted this was accurate and the rest of the media and print are wrong, I mean it was said on one of our own threads so it must be true.
