First call to Pearl, he will say no. Second call to Lavin, he is interested. You don't say the things he did about Iowa without knowing all about our history. He knew all about our rich tradition of coaches and teams yesterday. I however, think he says not now. The hire, if there is one, will be an assistant coach at a big time program with RECRUITER wrote all over him. Someone who is a PHD in basketball, poor, hungry and DRIVEN. Just my feelings...

On Lavin, wouldn't anyone be a bit concerned that they guy hasn't gotten a job over several years? Or was he just complacent in the color commentator role?

He's had offers, but seems to be waiting on a good fit and loves his current gig enough to be patient in that wait.

Matta is the lead recruiter...unusual for a head coach but he is a hands on guy. Listen to a presser with him...what kid wouldn't like him. The first day on the job at OSU he was in a HS lifting weights in his dress clothes with recruits...Steve Masiello at Louisville is a guy Barta will look at.
