A glimpse of the future with Woodbury tonight!

People are finally seeing what Woody is capable of. Once he hits the weights and stops playing smaller than he is, he will be a force. Don't forget about Gabe either, he is light years ahead of where he was a year ago. I just hope Fran keeps recruiting these kind of bigs. Get them coming into the program and let them sit for a year or two to develop while the older kids play. I really hope Fran gets another 6'11"+ center in the 2014 recruiting class.

Woodbury has improved so much since the beginning of the season. When he, White and Basabe or Oleseni are in the game rebounding has been great. He can run the floor and is usually in position on either end on change of possessions. His offense is beginning to take shape.

Another impressive stat is he played 26 minutes and did not foul out, ending up with 4 fouls.

Just please, please, please do not ask him to guard 3 point shooters again. :D

He has a lot of room to improve and he will....but he has played better this year than I thought he would.

Remember all those posts after the 4A playoffs last year, people saying he wouldn't amount to anything at Iowa?

They are the same people that complained about Marble during his freshman year. Like I said in that other thread, those clueless tools are nowhere to be found now. Hit and run is the MO of the ignorant Internet message board poster.

I have been wrong and will admit it, even when I am not prompted. In an early thread this year I gave Texas more credit than they deserved this year. It was early and I said that Iowa should not be thought of as better than Texas until we actually proved it. I also indicated that I thought the B12 was a better conference than someone else on that thread was giving them credit for. I was probably wrong, were I to go back and look at exactly what was said in that thread by me.

All that being said, I have not been wrong about Marble or Woodbury. And I thought Woodbury would be a little better this year than you did Jon:) Not much, but a little:)

His skills are there. He just needs to establish his confidence to use them. Next year. And by the time he leaves Iowa he will have been a very good hawk for us.

I love how you complain about people making judgments based on his whole regular season, but are seemingly ready to ignore that body of work because he played ok in the last couple........

It is a shot at the short sided fans who think they can actually predict how good a player will be because they saw him play one time at state BB when he was still in HS.

Lets give these kids a year or two before we throw them out with the bathwater....I think that is the theme here.
