A Different take on Re-alignment

" Instead, we would want to identify 30 or 40 teams that command the biggest audience. That may be by reputation or location, but generally we all know that there are members in every one of these conferences that frankly don’t move the needle."

I have been wondering if conferences would be restructured with those top teams only. The article goes on to say this...

But these teams are unlikely to be willing to play a 12 team schedule against each other; meaning there will still be a need for teams like Washington State, Wake Forest, Kansas State, Boise, Purdue, Iowa State, Vandy, Baylor, Georgia Tech and Northwestern. (glad they didn't say IOWA here)

These secondary level teams may not command the same dollars as the Top 35 or 40, but they will serve some purpose, perhaps a cannon fodder, or maybe as an occasional spoiler that will pop up in any given year. But the *Big Dogs will still need a few cupcakes to get fat on, and this alone is the ONLY value a conference affiliation could offer.

Will the big dogs want to share the revenue ?

I imagine what will really drive this list will be the decline of football. The "relevant" programs will strive to be relevant.

Funny about the list: Ohio State; Texas; Oklahoma; Alabama; Michigan; Notre Dame; Georgia; Tennessee; Auburn; Florida; Penn State; Texas A&M; Nebraska; South Carolina; Iowa; Arkansas; Wisconsin; Washington; Florida State; Oregon; Michigan State; Mississippi; Clemson; Southern California; Arizona State; UCLA.

Someone needs to send this to Kirk. He should have this information.

Trick is to be top dog. The B10 as a whole has showed up in bowl games. As a conference they need to get better and stay better than other conferences. They have been doing that.

Because at the end of the day, Amazon is out to make money the same way Netflix is. What this guy's buddy failed to explain is only one of those companies will have streaming rights to any given team or teams.
Oh they definitely are going to want to see some out of conference games, which is why people are starting to do it, well except Iowa, we are ok with just ISU as our key game.
Smartest thing Iowa could do is a cost analysis of what it's going to take to get better non con opponents asap. If that means paying a school 500000 for breaking an agreement, so be it.
Kind of dumb to pour a bunch of money into facilities and the stadium, to not try and "tip the needle". Get the south end zone to match the north and With the new facilities and hospital, Iowa has a gorgeous campus.

We have six years and the clock started 6months ago. This isn't a Sprint to the top, that would be called lucky. This is point blank about winning week in and week out for the long haul.
Sending guys into the pros.
It's taking the whole program up a notch.
