A Couple of Positives in the Program

First of all I will be the first to say we have a LONG ways to go before I'm satisfied with our program but I wanted to give this team some credit.

- It has been rightfully questioned how well Lickliter relates to players and if he can keep them motivated. Great job keeping a team motivated who was 5-11 (0-4) with no road wins and the leading scorer suspended.

- Same credit goes to the players unreal determination and desire to keep believing in the system.

- Outstanding game effort today getting 16 more rebounds than Indiana

- Kudos to Little Lick, he never asked to be on a team that would have 2 pg's transfer and another suspended. He joined to gain experience when he already knew the system. Whether or not you think he his an adequate backup pg he stepped up when called upon and has delivered his best effort. If you disagree I respect that but please don't turn this into a Little Lick bash fest, there are other threads for that.

- Credit Lick for possibly setting the foundations. I can vaguely start to see something that resembles a Big 10 team with Fuller, Payne, Cole, Gatens, Cougill, May, (Tucker?) and hopefully the recruits next year are as good as Revsine and others suggest.

Hopefully this team can keep progressing!

If we are going to agree that something clickrd then lets also agree that it clicked against 2 crappy teams, an average team and a sleepwalking MSU team.

Fair enough, but considering we started this season with 2 straight losses to UTSA and Duquesne (at home on top of it all), then winning 2 out of the lats 3 Big Ten games, one on the road by 15 points seems to be a step or two in the right direction. The team seems to be improving, which is all I was really looking for the rest of this year. Let's hope they keep it up, and that next year sees quite a few more W's.

The last couple of weeks has made me look forward to Hawkeye basketball games again. Before that it was just a forgone conclusion that any Big 10 game was lost. To see this team gel and play hard brings hope to the future. The road is long but there could be light on the other end of the tunnel. Lets all hope it is not a train. GO HAWKS!

Didn't people think the same things when we beat Penn St.? Beat a crappy team, now lets see if we can beat Michigan St. or Indiana on the road. We did one of those, and came a LOT closer to the other one than anyone thought we could.

We can't make the other team show up and play hard, that is up to them. All Iowa can do is show up and play the team on the floor. If they are at full strength, have hurt player, got drunk the night before, whatever.
