I have read over and over on how can we make the new trophy cool and still reflect the hard work of the Iowa farmer. It is so simple and right under everyone's nose. How about a very large, old fashioned corn sickel? It is tough, bad a$$ looking and it represents the hard work of all farmers and represents some heritage. Imagine the winning team hoisting a large sickel as the walk of the field. Obviously you would dull it so nobody got hurt. Start the campaign now!
Hey, great idea! Just imagine the scene: a roaring sea of 70,000+ crimson-clad fans (yes, we'll all wear red, because we are all comrades in the end). Maybe Herky can come out with the sickle, Cy can run out with the hammer, and they can meet in the middle of the field and lock them together above their heads. We can then mark the occasion to all rise and sing our glorious national anthem as one glorious nation and one glorious people:
