69

That's how many points we scored against the 2 top ten teams we had in back-to-back weeks. Most people looked at as a disaster that would cripple us, but it hasn't.

People were thinking we wouldn't and couldn't score, but what did we do? 69, people, 69. We turned it around and we should enjoy it. Instead, all people can think of is the fact that we went limp yesterday, instead of enjoying what happened. The next two weeks, our opponents should be easy. Just hope we play a full 4 quarters instead of coming from behind or finishing early.

Aren't the 60 or so yards the fewest yards Wisconsin has allowed EVER in their 100+ year history in the Big Ten?

If so, that is, well off the charts inept...especially for an AP ranked team like Iowa...

Sobering, humiliating, embarrassing, inept, futile, unwatchable...

A person couldn't make up two strikingly different games if they tried...OSU followed by Wisconsin

One team was prepared and motivated...the other was, well, Iowa.

Coaching/Leadership vacuum...

I understand trying to put a positive spin on things, but the 69 points is misleading. The offense scored 0 points yesterday. They looked absolutely pathetic in all aspects of the game.

Said enough on other posts already but please don't try to combine these games. Last week was a glorious day where the heavens opened and Hawkeye fans experienced the rapture, where good play was combined with good play calling. For one week we were spared the "need to execute better" and "clean things up" responses which have become cliches from this coaching staff. What does bother me is the contentment of mediocrity. A Badger fan asked me "Hasn't he (Kirk) been around forever?". "What's he done?". I really didn't have an answer.

Wow.

What it does show is that there is something terribly wrong.

Put in perspective, using 66 rather than 69

Utah State - 310 yards
Florida Atlantic - 248
BYU - 192
NW 244
NE 381
Pur 221
MD 268
IL 286
IU 266

IOWA 66

The word inconsistent needs to be mentioned.

Take out Iowa State, Illinois and Ohio State and in the other 7 games the offense has averaged 13.4 points. In the 3 games mentioned above, they've averaged 48 points.

The inconsistency of the offense is the problem for me.

Here is something we can all hang our hats on in the midst of this most recent Kirk debacle...for the rest of his life, Urban Meyer is going to ask himself, every day...how in the hell did Iowa score 55 points against us??? How????

dude, we got shut out yesterday 38-0 with 66 total yards and 5 total first downs. The reason people are angry is because we pulled a typical kirk...we let a golden opportunity pass us by and we did it in horrible fashion. look, i honestly didn't expect us to beat either OSU or WUs. Beating OSU and in the fashion we did was a thrill of a lifetime. but to come out and look like we didn't even know how to play football the following week is inexcusable. I would have been ok with a 38-27 loss, or a one score loss. But yesterday was a scrimmage for WUs. We didn't challenge them. that's coaching.

Several people I know mentioned that Iowa, and getting 13 points was the "lock of the year"...glad I didn't bite...

Such a disappointing thread, the title looked promising.

The thing is, it wasn't really even supposed to be about football. It was supposed to be about something that never disappoints. I'm shocked by the maturity of some of the posters on this site. I didn't realize any of us had any! ;)

Carry on with your football talk...

You are an extremely cheerful person!

Looking forward to a couple more 17-10 games. Before getting blown out in a .com bowl game. THATS FOOTBALL!!!!

Actually, we only scored 48. The defense "stole" 21 of the 69...

You must not follow Hawkeye football if you couldn't answer. Kirk has done a lot for this program & university.
