4 star KJ Sails decommits

I'm shocked. Not really.

Open slot for someone to commit, actually commit.

Recruiting is messy these days. And a lititle absurd. Verbals literally mean nothing.

This is one reason I dont follow recruiting that heavily because the high school kids ae so flaky. Even if they sign a LOI I dont get too hyped until I see them playing Sept to Nov. They can sign but maybe not make grades, etc so just wait for them to hit the field.

The best thing I ever did for my sanity was to stop following recruiting until they were actually on campus.

Although it wouldn't help in this situation, an early signing period would help stop some of the madness. They need it to be a week before training camp. Then no worries. Recruiting is the last thing coaches need to worry about during the season...

Sucks about Sails, but there will be another.

The 10-0 season must not be good enough for him. Anytime the SEC gets involved I start wondering about $$$. That could be completely unfair and this kid could just have totally legit reasons for wanting to go somewhere else. Kids change their minds all the time, it's kind of one of there things I guess.

Iowa has recruiting leverage like it's never had - tons of good players out there to get.

Yeah, I'm not worried about it. The only thing that sucks is a kid out of florida canceled a visit for the Minnesota game because we told him we were full at CB when Sails committed. I don't know if he is back in the mix or not.

Typical Iowa is not sexy at all, even 10-0 they getting ripped by pretty much everybody in media and kids hear this stuff....prob won't be last kid to decomitt either..

You are very wise!

I'd say, being that Sails is a DB, last week's game against Minnesota didn't help Iowa's cause much.

I'm sure Sails wants to play for a team that has a 'successful' secondary...so he'll be ready for the NFL. Week in and out, the SEC sure has NFL-bound players playing against each other.

Iowa does have a bad secondary, especially desmond king and lomax

DP5555 may be trolling, but when a recruit sees Mabin giving receivers a 7 to 10 yard cushion on just about every play and if he thinks he would be coached to play the same soft defense, a decommit seems rational.

That is so meta. A trolling comment that calls out another troll.

You're right. I'm sure we are last in the BIG in interceptions. And all of those guys in the NFL are terrible too. This kid must see that we don't know how to coach the secondary so he decommitted. It all makes sense to me now. I don't know why I didn't think of that.
