4 Defensive Failures

I'm not sure what's happened with our offensive the last couple of weeks - we should be a well oiled machine at this point in the season and we definately look out of sync. Our special teams this year - well, enough said. I have also seen Ferentz get out coached a few times this season which is also a surprise. That said, I have been most disappointed with our defense throughout the year.

The defense has had 4, yes 4 chances this season for a big stop at the end of a game to put the game away. They failed in all 4 situations. Arizona, Wisconsin, Northwestern and yep even Indiana who aside from a dropped pass would have went ahead in the final seconds.

I was not only disappointed with the defense toward the end of the game today but also humiliated - not only as a fan but for the players. The sideline shots of Clayborn and Ballard gasping for air on one knee were embarrassing. Not only that but a 150lb running back (dripping wet) dragging and knocking around our line and backers was just too hard to watch. Northwestern played with more passion and heart.

I hope our beloved Hawkeyes step up the intensity next week and play with the spirit and enthusiasm that makes a Hawkeye a Hawkeye.

Go Hawks!!!
