Last time Iowa was over .500 this late in the season:

After an OT win over Michigan on 2/22/09, Iowa was 14-13.
This year's team is also 14-13 as of 2/22/12.

The 2008-09 team finished at 15-17.

Regardless of whether this year's team finishes .500 or not, it's been a while since we've had a .500 record this far into the season. I'm hoping for at least a split in the last 4 games and finish 16-15. Also hopefully get a first round BTT win if nothing more, to get to 17-16 and log our first winning season since 2006-07. Anything better than that record is gravy as far as I'm concerned.

If memory serves, the 2008-09 team lost 4 players to transfer at the end of that season, so the program was starting over once again in 2009-10. I'm confident we won't have to worry about that under Fran.

Good post. Definitely shows the immediate impact Fran has had on the program. I'd of signed up for 17 wins before the season in a heartbeat. I've been a little disappointed due to my increasing expectations as the season goes on, but when you back up and look the whole picture, this year is still a step in the right direction record wise. I'm also not expecting any transfers. Players seem to enjoy playing for Fran.

Agreed. Before the season started, I believe I predicted 16-18 wins. It was easy to be disappointed after the losses to Nebraska and @PSU, also to Campbell. But I also didn't count on the win @Wisconsin, beating Minnesota twice, etc. So in the end, this team still has a reasonable chance to fulfill my pre-season predictions by getting to at least 16.
