28 Hawkeyes Make 53-Man NFL Rosters to Start '20

I was curious what was up with a couple of ex-Iowa players that transfered and played for another college team.

Jake Rudock was released by the Dolphins early, but now that the Dolphins just released Josh Rosen, Rudock will be again be signed to the Dolphins practice squad and will again be considered the Dolphins 3rd string QB.

I was also curious what happened to Manny Rugamba, but surprisingly he still had one year of eligibility left at Miami-oh. But when the MAC cancelled their fall 2020 season, Rugamba announced he was done at Miami and will start preparing for the 2021 NFL draft instead.

Yes, I know that only adds up to 27, but I am sure somebody will figure out which one I missed

Happy to see Geno Stone make a roster. I thought he was gambling a little by leaving early for the NFL, so I am glad that the gamble did pay off for him.

If you are a DB,Iowa is a great place to be. Go figure. I love to see so many back 7 defensive players.

Matt Nelson - offensive tackle? I must have missed that switch. Also somewhat surprised to see Anthony Nelson playing linebacker.

They moved him there after signing him last year. He was on their practice squad.

Good athlete and a good dude.

Glad to see Kristian Welch make the practice squad. With no pre-season games and something like 14 padded practices he must have really stood out.

Anthony Nelson is slender, with long arms and a gigantic wingspan so you can drop him off in zone coverage or stand him up as a edge rusher......not surprised at all that someone would flirt with him at linebacker.

A. Nelson plays in a 3-4 defense, where the OLB's are similar to a DE in a 4-3. They're typically about 250-270 and usually 6'4" or 6'5"-ish. Nelson is 270 and has the frame to be at 270. He IS 6'7", and there aren't a lot of 6'7" DE's either, but he made it work at Iowa. Hopefully he can make this transition as well.

Yeah, the next Mad Stork, and would love to see A Nelson have even 75% of Hendricks career, even 50%.

A very good list but still only CJ as an offensive skill position player. I would say the Dbacks are the skill players on defense with having to do so many fast and yet strength thinks plus cover and get hands on the ball and intercept. So the hawks are well placed at Dback and they have been for all of KF's years and many from Fry teams.

Good for Cedrick! He didn't get a lot of attention leading up to the draft etc. But I thought he looked solid the last two years and was a little surprised when he didn't get more mention. I hope he can break into a roster somewhere in the next year or two.

That would be great. I think he would have benefited from a RS year but he did get better each year and had a really consistent senior season. He still has room to grow as a player.
