2025 Iowa Football Schedule

Looking ahead just for funsies, I saw that the 2025 schedule has UMASS at home on Nov. 15th.

Then being curious I went back and looked for similar situations and they are VERY few and far between.

In the Fry and Ferentz administrations, Iowa has only played 5 non-conference games outside of the normal September run, and one of those was a postponement reschedule

1984 - Hawaii, Week 12 (last game of the year before the Bowl game)
1993 - NIU, Week 9
2001 - ISU, Week 11 (9/11 reschedule so doesn't count)
2006 - NIU, Week 9
2007 - Western Michigan, Week 12 (last game of the year, no bowl game)

Do you like the UMASS game in November? It's a lot like how the SEC does the same thing, but I don't know if it's great for Iowa.

Things got messed up when they added Penn State because the conference had 11 teams. There were some "odd man out" years at the end of the season when they were rotating Iowa/Wisconsin/Minnesota amongst each other to close the year.

This sort of fringe knowledge proves to me that you run your county booster club or something similar, cool tidbit though. Are you by chance Rastetter's uncle?

Not to sound too fatalistic here, but the odds of Iowa winning the Big Ten in any given year are pretty remote. I don't know how old you are, but this may be our last legit shot in our lifetimes. Basically in any year Ohio makes it I am deeming it an automatic Iowa loss.

So here we are, the two posters clamoring for OKeefe and Brian Ferentz to be president. The whole season, Kirk Ferentz's legacy, the potential for a title in the athletic hall of fame, everything basically rides on Brian and O'Keefe sitting in a film room right now preparing their gameplan and QBs for this game.

I think they will call their best game ever. Iowa 69, Michigan 0. What say you?

Not a fan. I think it's a terrible look for the SEC's best teams every year when they get their end of season pastry and I don't think it makes us look any better.
I agree, but there's an element of "can't beat 'em join 'em" as well...

I hate it, for multiple reasons. If you are going to play a shitty team like UMass then you might as well put UNI back on the schedule, keep the gate money in-state and they will actually try to make a game of it. But, most importantly, it's fricking November 15th!!! If you are going to make me freeze my ass off to go watch a game in Kinnick at least make sure it's a conference opponent. I sure hope my son is done with the marching band in 2025 as that will not be a game I will want to drive 1.5 hours to go see.

If the weather is shitty that day, you might see an all time low attendance figure since Fry took over.

Easily 169-0. Both of our namesakes are with the team, how could they possibly win by less than 100? 2-0 would be cool too though.

2-0 would take a helluva game by the offense. It would require a scenario where Michigan got pinned deep by the offense and ST and then a series of sustained 20-30 yard drives and punts with pretty much no 3 and outs that left the defense gassed.

Truly a masterful performance of Ferentzball. I don’t know how they keep us out of the playoffs.

I saw that the other day to when looking at cross over games come up in the future. I'm okay with it I guess when scheduling is an issue (which I have to assume it's why it's this way and we have the week 3 bye)

Nick will be retired by the time the Ohio series starts and it will be a cupcake game for Ohio.
Yeah it might be a slow burn when he retires, but eventually they'll fall off like everyone else. It's weird, and everyone talks about how mighty the SEC is, but the only team that's been immune to falling off has been OSU. Since Woody left there have been 6 coaches, and the fewest number of conference championships any of them has had is 3 (Cooper and Day). Going back to 2005 they've won 14 out of 17 Big Ten championships.

That 07 WMU game is still the worst game I’ve seen live. I was front row right behind the visiting bench and was talking mad shit all game. When it was clear they would win some of the players started giving it back to me

I deserved it but it sucked.
