2018 Recruiting Class looking solid

This was your typical Iowa class in terms of how it was graded. 247 had us at 39th and 8th in the B1G.

Not so typical is how many guys are already cracking the two deeps and will play this year. I think there is a lot of talent (potential) in this class.

Guys already in 2 deep:
-Sargent (Starter) (Transfer)
-Tyrone Tracy
-Nico Ragaini
-Linderbaum (Starter)
-Waggoner
-Nixon (Transfer)
-Shannon
-DJ Johnson (Starter)
-Brents
-Moss
-Merriweather (Starter)

Haven’t heard from yet:
-Craddieth
-Petras
-Jenkins
-Plumb
-McDonald
-Doyle
-Benson
-Lockett
-Geil
-Roberts (emerging this spring)

That class might have flown below the radar a little bit but I think has a chance to be one of the better ones in the KF era.

Of the "not heard from yet" crew, I am pretty high on Jenkins, Plumb, McDonald, Doyle, Benson, and Roberts.

Doyle and Benson are already clearly in the top 5 LBs (per Wallace interview from a few weeks ago). I think we are going to see McDonald and maybe Doyle deployed as stand up DEs at times this year.

As you noted, Roberts has been pumped up this spring by Parker and Wallace. Our DB room is just loaded right now.

Plumb is on the 2 deeps at about 265 lbs; not sure if that is a really good sign or a scary sign, but I think he has a lot of potential. Would love to see him get some run as a 3rd OT in heavy sets this year.

Your point is valid but in all fairness early NFL entries are a factor in this too. Second stringers become startes, third stringers move into the two deep, etc. right down to the PWO's.

Absolutely, guys are being put into action at younger ages, but they’ve also beat out a lot of older guys as well.

Totally agree that there are several guys in that second group that will end up making an impact.
