2014 Iowa Prediction Thread

Is it too early? or does Jon do this? My take is that you should have to wear your prediction in your signature line.

I'm going with 10-2. I've drank the Koolaid, swear allegiance to all that is Ferentz, and I'm convinced Greg Davis is smarter than all of us, put together.

There may be a stumble early and one late...but if we get through the first seven without losing...momentum and confidence may be a huge factor to have us 10-0 when Bucky comes to town. It wouldn't shock me at all.

I like to lump together levels of teams and then pick the record amongst that group. Here is how I see it:

Easies opponents (UNI, ISU, Ball St. @Purdue, @Ill) 4-1
Harder games (@Minny, Indiana, @Pitt, jNW) 3-1
Challenging (@Maryland, Wisconsin, Nebraska) 2-1

I see us at 9-3. I could see 8-4 or 10-2 as well, but I think 9-3 is most likely. I think we lose one we shouldn't, and then 2 others that aren't as big of shocks, but losing to the second tier will be disappointing as well when/if it happens. I don't think it would be shocking to drop one @Maryland or losing to Wisky or Neb.

I say 9-3 with 8-4 more likely than 10-2. Historically KF and staff will blunder a game away we shouldnt lose even though I still back KF. It is what it is. We will probably split with Wisky and Nebby so that is two losses and then one other road game loss in there.

If they can win the first 5 then look out as the experience factor of the new players might gel into a juggernaut.

Hearing about Mabin possibly being real good could give us two very good corners to play the Lbkrs and safeties tight and blitz. We could have a couple of gems at lbkr also.

9-3 is my safe pick. If we start strong and stay healthy, 10-2 is very double and a fantastic season. 11+ and its magical.

Win 9 or more, beat Nebby, don't lose to a clear underdog....and I will be very satisfied.

I just think the team showed last year that they will beat all the teams they should. You could throw NIU in the mix too, i.e. a team we should have beaten, but we were too green to get it done and honestly, that was more coaching than playing. Had we pounded the ball in the second half like we did in the first, it would have been a different outcome.

With Rudock now deeper in the offense, and another spring and fall camp, I expect he becomes the difference maker in the close games at PITT, MINN, MARYLAND, and ILLINOIS. For some reason, I just think he's going to take a GIANT leap forward and get the ball to the right people based on what the defense is giving him. I picked 10-2, but I really think 12-0 is within the realm of possibility. If our OL and LB's stay healthy...I honestly believe we have a shot. I would not have said that in 2010 when Jon went all undefeated on us...for some reason, I think that now.
