2012 Big Ten Football

Honestly, I don't remember the conference being this bad at any time.

MSU has proven they were vastly overrated, Wisky still has QB issues, UM looks totally lost on offense, Nebraska should dismiss the "black shirt" notion all together Tom O. is gone and they apparently went with him, Iowa is a mess on both sides of the ball, keep thinking that D will hold up against real teams, Purdue may be the best team on their side...quite scary, everyone else is just terrible.

Both Michigan teams losing to ND is awful, ND is not a good team...it is funny how the national reporters spin it that their defense was incredible forcing turnovers against UM and I will say they forced maybe two, the other ones were just bad. This has been the only chance other than UM facing Alabama for a marquee win outside of the conference...epic fail.

I am a Texas A&M football fan and it hurts me to root for an SEC team...when it comes down to it I prefer to watch BIG football over every other league, mainly becuase the arrogance is not so visible and teams generally just go out and play their butts off. My family are all huge Iowa football fans...I am still a huge Iowa basketball fan and still follow Iowa football close, just not my favorite team.

What is the problem right now? Is it because OSU/UM are still not to the level they typically are and give the BIG the two traditionally great programs, or what? Is it because the rest of the league has just fallen off of a cliff?

Is the oversigning by the SEC affecting the rest of the leagues that much? It really bothers me to see this league down the way it is.

The cheating and oversigning by SEC teams definitely gives them an edge, there is no doubt about it. And most of the good schools down there do it. Quite simply though, it just seems like a majority of good high school athletes come from the southern states, and any more it is harder and harder to get them to come north. Kids that grow up living in mild winter areas don't want to come up north and live through our harsh winters. On top of that, the SEC and old Big 12 south schools still get a ton of TV coverage nationally. Why come up to the Big 10 where you are relegated to a "network" when you can play in the SEC and be on CBS or ESPN all the time?
