2011 Division Title.....

...I know we still have 2010 to worry about and hopefully enjoy so I apologize for looking ahead but I just finished reading an article that said the Big Ten office put Nebraska into a division it might get to win right away because Iowa loses a lot after this season and Michigan is still going to be down. It got me thinking....

Just how much do we lose after this season? Will we have to rebuild or do we have guys waiting in the wings that will seem like a reload instead?

It would really suck bad if Nebraska comes in yr 1 and wins the division.

Nebraska could very well be the favorite next year to win the division. They return a lot, and we will be losing some key players. It will be interesting...

Gonna be one heck of a Senior Day 11/20 as OSU rolls into town. Can't wait. Crowd is going to go ballistic.

Well, the B10 did Nebraska absolutely no favors next year when it comes to scheduling. They will play OSU, Wiscy, & Penn State as their CROSSOVER games next year, while we get to play Purdue, Indiana, & Penn State....

So, while Nebbie is busy playing OSU & Wiscy, we'll be playing Purdue & Indiana...The rest of our sch's will be identical.

So, in an 8 game conference slate, that's almost got to be considered a 1-game advantage for us - built-in. So, if we can manage to split with Penn State & Nebbie next year, you'd have to think we would win the 'West' title...Unless we lose to Nebbie & they manage to only lose one game in that murderer's row....which would be tough to forsee...

Looking at the Cornhuskers projected starting lineup, they are going to be rebuilding next year too. Looks like 10 SR as projected starters plus the kicker and punter are both seniors. And if Zach Lee wins the starting job he is also a senior. So possibly 13 starters gone. If i had to say who the favorite will be is Michigan, they lose one on offence and 3 on defence. Considering their schedule is the easiest, I'd put the early favorite as Michigan. If they have a poor season and Rich Rod is fired, then they could be restarting all over again and this thing could be wide open. Even some of the bottom tier teams possibily factoring into the race.
I was kind of thinking about do I root for Nebreska this year? I was thinking yes, cause it's kind of like a big ten team possible winning the big 12. But next year root against them, cause it's like a big 12 team possible winning the big 10.

Ouch, and an outside shot of losing Reiff, McNutt, and Sash.

Assuming none of this going pro, nightmare scenario stuff happens. I think we're definately going to be in the discussion for division title next year.

Offence
We lose Stanzi, but many people think Vandenberg has better arm and is more talented, just lacks stanzi leadership and experience.

OLine
I think Ferentz will emerge at center this year and if so, we would have 4 out of 5 starters back, so you can't hate on that.

FB
never real seen this make or break us before.

TE
Reisner, but we still got Hermen the blocking te and the 5 star #1 te recruit in the nation to fill in CJ

WR
DJK, If we got McNutt and Keenan should be primed and ready to step it up. I've seen alot worse wide reciever cores then that in Hawkeye history.

Defence
LB
Tarp and Hunter, Bruce Davis was in the discussion to start this year and theres a reason we're not redshirting Morris(everyone seems high on him) this year. It seems like starting next year is it.

secondary
got 3 out of 4 back with Lowe/Castillo/Bernstien/Swanson bench depth all coming back, so no big worries there.

Where we hurt is DL and overall depth is thin
1 returning DL, but everyones allready talking about Daniels being the 5th starter and beasting allready, so just will need to fill 2 spots there. Murray isn't 100 percent the starter now, hopefully the auzzie from down under lives up to his youtube video to replace Donahue

Overall I definately think we'll be in the race with Nebby schedule and Michigan's question marks.

This says it all- if Nebraska wins the div... they've earned it. Their schedule is BRUTAL!
