2010 Hawkeyes- Lack of Executing- Off the field?

The hours of analysis and breakdown on the Hawks "lack of execution" as being the reason this team did not cash in on its talent has been exhausting.

These 18-22 year old "kids" are not robots. It is not an x's and o's chalkboard and whatever coach has the best "scheme" will always win the game. When a "scheme" doesn't work...... it turns out to be "lack of execution."

It is beyond shortsighted and really makes me wonder if the posters who believe that it comes down to "execution" have ever played sports beyond Pop Warner and Little League.

I question- and did so in the "lack of execution" thread- what is going on with this team in house. There is something not right.
Players bickering about coaches..... lack of film study prep..... questioning each other..... not getting along..... selfish attitudes..... maybe players not going to class and doing things right off the field.

Well this is one dramatic episode of an off the field incident with DJK. I suspect and it is clearly unfair to accuse anyone else of doing Blow like its the Lawrence Taylor New York Giants.
However, to not take a deeper look and for two seconds view this from a different perspective...... that maybe.... JUST MAYBE...... the reason this team is 7-5 and not beating teams like Northwestern...... escaping a win against Indiana on a team clearly more talened.......

I don't know what to tell ya.

To go with this.....

One of the most misleading things I feel that is misleading with these college athletes...

there overwhelming physical presence and athleticism makes us think they're grown men.

Spend some time with a 20 year old D1 athlete..... they're just kids.

Of course there are exceptions of extreme maturity and shown responsibility. However, for the most part.... these are kids that are funny...goofy.... go through ebbs and flows of emotions with family issues..... girls..... balancing what it's like to be treated like a rock star in Iowa City.

I think because of there physical presence that is easy to forget the emotional ups and downs kids can go through that could effect performance on this level of competition.
They're not paid professional athletes........ just kids.

I think this is overlooked and has to do with some of the inconsistencies seen with this team this year.
