It must've been November of 2005. Coral Ridge Mall. Walking in with the wife and she saw him....

Wife: "Is that......?"

Me: "Yep. It sure is."

Wife: Duh blah blah herp durr.

Me: "Hey, Coach."

Him "Hey." Reaches for the pen I don't have in my hand to sign the autograph I don't request on the sheet of paper I don' have.

They float like Maharishis. Maybe they are Maharishis. Maybe that happened to him.

old dude?

All our trips to IC over the years and my wife has never drug me to Coral Ridge Mall. We both prefer to "shop" at Ped Mall.

My wife going shopping story goes like this. I'm sitting at home and the wife pulls into the driveway and then walks in the house. "Honey, can you get the large box and the other stuff out of the back of the car and bring it in?". "Sure dear" I respond. I walk out to the car and get a large box and a Walmart bag and bring them into the house. The Wife says "That Robert sure is a nice kid", she continues, "He saw me looking the crock pots on the top shelf and asked if I needed to get one down". The wife is 5' 2". She continues and says "His arms are bigger around than my legs. He just reached up and grabbed the box and put it in my basket for me". She said they chatted for a minute about Iowa, football, and teaching. It made a pretty big impression about the Iowa football program on her. She thought Iowa football was a class act for years after that. Later Norm became an acquaintance and he sent a stream of players as volunteers to her after school program. It's sad to here her say the program has gone stale these days.

I ran into Alford there once by the ATM near the food court. He acted like I should have been happy to see him.

I saw Gerg Davis there a couple of weeks ago in front of Scheel's. He asked me if I knew if there was a big and tall store where he could get a new dress shirt for a wedding he was attending. I said that if you go all the way down to the other end of the mall, there was a Dillard's. There was even a sign outside the store for 1/2 off and more for big and tall clothes. He said "Nah, that's OK. It's too risky. They might be sold out by the time I get there. I'll just go to Target. No reason to go way down to the other end for a chance for something great when I can get something crappy a few yards to the left of here."
