I'm going to ask this question in the football forum...however, please feel free to move this to the Off Topic board or some other forum if needed.
I have a picture of the 1921 FRESHMAN football squad. However, I can't seem to find any information on this squad as far as who the players were (except for one), let alone where they are represented in the photo. I have a copy of the 1922 and 1923 Hawkeye Annual Yearbook and the Freshman football photo in those books just says "Freshman Football Team" so I'm assuming it's the same in the 1921 Hawkeye Annual Yearbook (according to the Iowa Archive site, the 1921 Freshman Photo appears on page 283 but it just lists a page number...no link to an online photo).
I've been to the Iowa Athletic site but only find information on the 1921 Varsity team (rightfully so). I have also searched on Google, Yahoo, and other various search engines but only find information about the Varsity squad.
As a last ditch effort does anyone here have information about this squad or the individuals that were on this team? Does anyone have access to the 1921 Hawkeye Annual and can check out Page 283 to see if names are listed with the photo?
For those wondering why I care about the Freshman team...my grandfather was on the team (i can identify his picture) so I was just trying to piece some things together. He passed away in 1995 so I can't really ask him for information.
And for those that will ask, he only played on this team as he broke his arm mid season and didn't play anymore after that.
Any help in my quest to identify these players would be most appreciated!
