Max Duggan was back at Iowa last week, attending the program's junior day. They '19 in-state QB met with new position coach, Ken O'Keefe:

Coaches kid, decent athlete playing QB at a high level for high school. I'm just not sure he's a D1 QB and not a good enough athlete to play another position.

I know they're just the highlights, but based on that, I don't see how he looks any worse than the QB we just took from Texas this last class. Pretty nice highlight vid for a sophomore. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses.

What is it about him that makes you think he might not be a D-I QB? I've not seen him play in person, just highlights.

I will see him at The Opening and Under Armour events in Chicago next month.

In the games I watched he was more effective in the running game than the passing attack. I'm no scout and I've only seen him the 3 times, 2 of which were a couple years ago when he was a freshman. His team went 1-2 in those 3 games that I watched. He's a good high school athlete but I don't think he would be a dual threat when facing 11 D1 athletes and I just didn't see enough in the passing game to think he was a D1 QB.

How many high school quarterbacks face an entire defense made up of division 1 athletes???????????

I'll hang up and listen.

At 180 he might be a tad on the slight side but he's got plenty of time to get bigger. Interesting prospect in that he certainly reminds me of the Texas QB we have coming in this yr. Hopefully being in on him early and him being an instate kid we have the inside track on him. I'd hate for him to end up at Nebraska. Since he's a mobile QB and from across the river from Omaha I'm sure they'll be sniffing around as he gets hotter as a prospect...

I watched MD a lot on Sunday at the Opening. Yes, it's the underwear Olympics, but I liked what I saw. He can make all the throws and does so with accuracy. He was one of the better QBs at the event in that setting.

I interviewed him on video and will have that up at some point this week. He visited Notre Dame yesterday.

So, we have a sophomore QB from the state of Iowa with offers from:

Iowa
Iowa State
Kansas State
Minnesota
Nebraska
North Carolina
Penn State

What are the odds he plays at a college in Iowa? Does KOK have to show him clips of Brad Banks?

I'd imagine the look of Iowa's offense under B. Ferentz and KOK will influence his thinking. Best to look forward.

Considering other Iowa offers for QB's have since gone out I would consider him on the decline.
