19/66

19 assists and 66 pts accounted for with pts and assists combined are both WNBA records for a single game. But Clarks not an Olympian. She's not going to get serious MVP consideration and some idiots are still saying she's not ROY. I knew these WNBA folks are weird but come on they are off their freaking rocker.

That 'adjustment' period hasn't taken her all that long come to find out. And she's still got room to grow. Her 3 pt shot isn't really falling that well. I think it's not primarily because she isn't shooting them at the volume she was used to at Iowa. She's a rhythm shooter and when your shooting fewer times and sporadically throughout the game it's tougher to do. Once she really gets that going and can cut down on her TOs some more then forget about it. She'll give Wilson a run for her money for MVP then

Yeah...

Caitlin Clark rung up 19 assists in the Fever’s 101-93 loss to the Wings, the most any player has recorded in a WNBA game.

Outstanding, I say...

Caitlin is such a pleasure to watch, she is acclimating to the WNBA quite well and seems
at ease doing so as time goes on

Caitlin seems reluctant to shoot when she is open for a step back three and her teammates
should be looking for her when her three is available

Perhaps it is a coaching decision for her to limit her shots, she should be given a OO7
license to SHOOT

People are speculating its the 10 pounds of muscle she's put on in-season. The extra muscle is throwing off her shot. Shooters generally don't strength train in-season because of this. The physical play she's greeted with in the W has forced her to adapt. This break should give her time to adjust to the added strength in her arms. Nothing wrong with her mechanics.

Caitlin struggles with the threes when she flattens her arc.

It's something I noticed early in her Iowa career, and her shot has been quite flat recently. It should be fairly easy to trace her makes versus misses on video. Hopefully, one of the team's analysts points it out to her.

I'm sure Steph Curry would tell her the same thing. From a purely physics standpoint, just a slight flattening of the arc at long distance makes the odds exponentially worse.

I think that's due to dead legs. She hasn't had more than a couple of days off at all for the last 9 months. I look to see her shooting significantly better post-Olympic break.

Maybe. Hard to say. Fatigue no doubt can factor in.

As someone who's game was mostly behind the line back in the day, I can say there are times where you have to evaluate your mechanics to get back on track. Golf is a good analogy - even the best have to tweak their mechanics at times when they start seeing a pattern developing.

There is a rather interesting basketball game across the Pond

Japan is giving the American team all they can handle

Looks like a team of midgets on the floor and they are hanging in there

They look like the WNBA lasses are getting fatigued

Terror of Tiny Town all over again

The second half was another story however

Caitlin is playing almost the entire game, all 40 minutes most of the time

Every other player in the WNBA gets time to catch their breath on the bench

Not only that but she is facing a ton of attention with two players guarding her a lot of the time

She seems to be getting knocked to the floor every game

Looks like the Olympic team could use her playmaking skills

She certainly knows how to create turnovers because of the extra attention though

Dawn Staley, a member of the USWNT selection committee, asked about Caitlin Clark.“If we had to do it all over again, the way that she’s playing, she would be in really high consideration of making the team because she is playing head and shoulders above a lot of people.”

Team USA admits mistake on Caitlin Clark

Yeah, I saw that from Staley a couple days ago. I don't believe her for a minute. They couldn't have selected CC without taking Angel Reese, and there's no way that selection committee and coach (even tho the coach isn't on the committee and isn't supposed to have significant input into the selection of the team) was going to boot two veterans and select 2 rookies instead -- altho a strong case could be made for that, to build experience for the future. Personally, I think Staley was just covering her ass in case Team USA loses. I suspect internally she was likely one of the strongest voices to keep Clark off the team. There's something about her that I just don't trust.

I'm surprised that neither of the Men's or Women's Olympic teams filled their rosters with specialists like Reese would be and even CC. They fill them with the top scorers and then wonder why there's very little movement, few picks and limited in rhythm passing in their sets.

Angel Reese doesn't have Caitlin's playmaking skills

Her absence was obvious during the Japan game

The Olympic team has all the inside/middle players they need

I just meant let CC run the offense with 2 sharpshooters and 1 skilled big then let Reese rebound like crazy. They'd beat everybody by 40.

They would probably win by at least 40

Angel is the Best offensive rebounder I have ever seen in women's basketball, college or pro

It was cool to see them play as teammates in the All-Star Game
