Other than Byers not enrolling, why are we so thin at theses weights? We seem to have depth at the lower weights. Did we have guys leave or was it a recruiting problem.

Sure looks like a recruiting problem. Most of our stud coaches are smaller guys.

heavier weights are always thinner. it is a problem for all wrestling programs. if you are a bigger guy you may have a future in football that you could make a great living in. all you have to do is look at Iowas o line. how may of them were state wrestling camps that chose football instead.

I think at one time that they figured Ambrose at 197# and Gambrall at 184#. You had Wagner and Fahler and Lira, to fill in.

It comes down to how u want to spend the recruiting money, Brands poured money into the current RSSO/JR class that consists of Gambrall, St. John, and Ramos, among others. Some were good calls some weren't but its where alot of money went, now you may have been able to pull a decent 197 but u might have cost yourself a tony ramos.

I think the teams of the 80's and 90's spoiled people into thinking its realistic to have ten all americans in every lineup, The team is very solid, we just have some logjams Vinnie Wagner is a good backup 184, Raising is hands down the best backup HWT in the nation, moore and kelly are extremely good backups at 57 and 65 (before they dropped) ballweg at 41 and nate moore at 33 or 41 its just not feasible to have all american caliber backups at every weight.

I mean even in the recent brands championship teams there was some gaping holes (49 last year, 57 after m* moved to 65, etc) look at the rankings every team has holes, PSU down bottom, Minnesota has em scattered in the middle, we saw okie states on saturday. It's just the nature of the sport
