'18 WI F Joey Hauser Talks About Hawkeyes Interest

Any updates on this kid? I see he's ranked 43 in the latest Rivals ratings, 2 spots behind Wieskamp.

No open ride for him right now. Wieskamp will takes Uhl's. Dom is the only player we lose after this season.

And, yes, I think the feeling out there is that he will follow his brother to Marquette.

Of course it does. He's an in-state kid. And it helps the Badgers that Iowa doesn't have an open spot for him.

C'mon, Rob, although I'm sure Hauser entertained thoughts Iowa hasn't been in the picture really from day one. Marquette may get him just because his brother's there but I wouldn't bet on it. There are a lot of reasons Wisconsin has always been in the picture.

He plays AAU in Iowa. He's teammates with another top player nationally in the '18 class with whom he gets along really well and also knows the McCafferys well.

To say Iowa hasn't been in the picture from Day 1 is misinformed.

As I said, Iowa doesn't have an open scholarship for him so the staff hasn't pursued him as hard as it would if it did. That's one less suitor for him. That helps Wisconsin, which was my point.

I actually agree with this. He's most likely going to stay in state and if he doesn't I bet it will be Michigan State. I don't think we were ever going to be a serious player here no matter our scholarship situation.

I was very surprised nobody transferred after last season. I'd bet my left n.. that at least one player transfers after this season, maybe two. Doubt that he comes to Iowa, though.

Rob he has an ex HS teammate and good friend who transferred to Wisconsin. Wisconsin has been his favorite since childhood. Herro and Davison, two guys he'd be playing with for most of his career, are good friends. His parents have always liked Gard. I don't know where he'll end up but I'm guessing Iowa really wasn't in the picture very long (regardless of the scholarship situation), especially after MSU came into the picture. Right now, I'm guessing UW has at least a 50-50 chance of his commitment.

From the people I've spoken to, who have no dog in the fight, he likes Iowa. He likes Wieskamp and he likes the McCafferys. To say the Hawkeyes were never in the picture is factually inaccurate. It just is.

He's not going to go to Iowa. We all know that. But to say that it never had a chance is wrong.

It's easy to say now that Iowa isn't in the picture that they never were in it. It doesn't make it so.

Iowa hosted Happ on a visit but never offered him. Had it offered, they would have been in good position.

This stuff isn't black and white. And despite people thinking they know where these kids are going two years before they decide, it's a fluid process.

You should understand this as you've stated that the only reason Iowa has three football commitments from Wisconsin this year is because the Badgers didn't want them.

First of all, I never said Wisconsin didn't want the 3 football recruits Iowa picked up. I said we didn't have room for one who we definitely were interested in, nor did we have room for another that we were moderately interested in and, I believed weren't all that interested in the RB. Those are the facts, Rob. Whether you wish to believe them or not.

Secondly, I never said you never had a chance at Hauser. What I said just a few posts ago was that he "entertained thoughts" just as he entertained thought for others. I guess you have to read between the line that I was inferring your chances weren't very good from the beginning.

We follow recruiting pretty closely here, Rob.

How do you know any of these things you put forth about Iowa and Wisconsin recruiting are fact? You're saying they're facts but you're also saying you believe these things to be true.

To me, you only see things from a Wisconsin fan point of view that paints your school in the best light. That's not surprising.

You said Iowa was never in the picture for Hauser from Day 1. That statement, I can assure you, is factually wrong.

And with that, I'm done with this debate. I'd rather talk with Iowa fans about the Hawkeyes. That's why the vast majority of us are on this site.
